The SUV pulled up in front of a gigantic mansion, the driver came out immediately and held the door open for Lisa.
Lila threw a shaky leg out before dragging herself out, her eyes shot up to the mansion towering before her and her mouth dropped open.
'Whoever use to be this Lisa girl was a damn princess for sure.' She thought to herself
The door burst open and a dozen uniformed maids filed out, their heads lowered and their hands pinned behind them.
"Welcome back to your home, Lisa,"Troy said.
Lila noticed the way he talked now, it lost the texture it had back when they were alone, now it seemed as if he was giving her some kind of respect.
Who in the moon goddess did they say she was again?
"This place is so big" Lila whispered dumbly, looking around, everywhere was so beautiful with a serene atmosphere,"Why are they bowing their heads to you?"
Troy gave her a look,"Not me...you. Let's go in"
He asked her to lead the way which she did,she walked clumsily through the pathway of uniformed maids and the uniformed doorman held the door wide open for them.
"Whoa" Lila gushed as they stepped into a magnificent foyer.
She looked round and felt lost in the most beautiful place she'd ever seen, a diamond layered chandelier hung low from the ceiling and cast a warm glow all around.
She had never seen a place half so beautiful and she fought hard not to say it out loud as she looked around,Troy glanced at his wristwatch.
"I'd have to go now, Lisa"He said,"The maid will take you up to your room, you should wash up, have something to eat and get ready. I will love to continue this conversation with later and understand why you think your sister is murder as well"
Before Lila could ask her ready for what,a maid walked up to them and Troy smiled at her, she saw something behind the smile as if he was angry about something.
"Let's get you ready,Ma'am Lisa" The maid said in a quiet voice.
Lila let the maid lead her up a red carpeted winding staircase and through a brightly lit corridor with huge beautiful paintings, some with wolves on a mountain peak and howling at the full moon.
It made her remember her pack and her wolf,so big, beautiful and strong, she placed her hand on her chest, trying to feel for her wolf but it seemed to be silent—distinct.
Only moon goddess knows how the pack is run here but why hasn't she been able to feel this Lisa girl's wolf yet?
Hope she not wolf less or anything of sort
As she walked behind the maid, she tried again, to summon her wolf , she tried to call for it but instead her memories hit her head in a flash…
...laughter rippled through the air,the smell of roses and dandelions were drifting all around.
"Come on, Lila. You'd be late!"Elena yelled from the foot of the stairs.
"Coming, one minute"I yelled back, smoothening my hair in the mirror one last time.
It was the night of the mating festival and I didn't want to be late…
"You look so beautiful, Lila" Elena gushed,"I thank the moon goddess for this day…"
…. Lila's head felt heavy as another flash slashed across her head like a hot knife, she felt weak...
…"Soon, in a space of hours" Nathan said smiling at me,"Your wolf would be awakened, you'd be a full fledged wolf,Lila"
I looked up at him, my heart beating hard against my chest. I wondered what the experience would be like since it was taboo for a wolf to share the tale of his awakening to another.
The memories flashed again and Lisa felt yet another having into her head, she squinted her eyes shot and leaned against the wall for support….
...The dried figs were sticking into my barefoot as I ran in the woods. It was a full moon and it hung low in the sky.
My wolf had been awakened and I was so scared and happy at the same time.
…."Who are you" i asked, bending low in my naked form after I had transformed to a wolf with my white dress laying torn in pieces all around me
My wolf spirit was out,a big, fluffy white wolf with shiny golden eyes that pierced into the dark.
…."We are one, Lila...you are me and I am you—"
"Ma'am Lila, are you okay?"The maid asked, finally lifting her head to look her in the eye.
She looked up at her and looked around her, she wasn't in the woods and neither was she in the pack, her pack.
She was still here,in this unfamiliar world.
"I'm fine," Lila whispered, standing up straight.
The maid pushed a door open, revealing a beautiful room with shiny white painted walls.
"I will have your food served in a jiffy,Ma'am " The maid said in a quiet voice.
Lisa looked into the room and realized she had gotten to her supposed room,a room she had never stepped her feet into.
It was bigger and a hundred and one times better than her room back in the pack, the room she had to share with bed bugs because of the worn out wooden furniture which she never wanted to discard.
"Uhm...can you call me...Lisa , you adding Ma'am makes me hate the name even more" Lila said to the maid,"What kind of name is that anyways...Lii saa...so strange"
The maid looked up at her surprise and gave her a look before lowering her head quickly but said nothing. Lila guessed the maid might think she was going crazy from the accident.
The maid curtsied and left her to get her breakfast ready, Lila walked into the room and wowed at almost everything she saw in the room.
She padded to the large four poster bed and then something caught her attention,a framed picture which stood at the bedside table.
Lila picked it up and her heart kicked in her chest as she saw a picture of her,she was in a bikini and had her hands spread to the direction of a bright blue lake.
Lila never remembered being so naked, she didn't even remember taking the picture. She seemed to be getting more and more confused.
But then a deep male voice came behind her, making her almost drop the picture.
"Honey,I was informed you arrived some minutes ago"
Lila turned sharply to see a man with piercing bottle green eyes and in a well tailored suit standing at the open door.
She recognized everyone except him.
"W-who are you?"She asked in a small voice.
The man gave her an amused look,"Come on now, Darling. Its I, Gerald, your husband to be"
The next sound that came was something crashing….
The framed picture shattered against the marble floor.
Lila's breath came in shallow gasps as she stared at the man in the doorway. He was tall, broad-shouldered, and wore a suit that looked like it cost more than her entire existence back in Greenwood's Pack. His bottle-green eyes glowed under the chandelier's warm light, watching her with the familiarity of a man who knew her.
Except… she knows him from her life as Lila.
How the hell was he here.
This is her Davis, whom told her they were mate but he said he will wait for her until get her wolf.
Why is everyone here yet different.
"Darling' he called out and smiled the smiled that always caused her heart beat faster in the past and now it sickens her beyond what words could comprehend.
Before she could process her thought he approached her and kissed her directly on the lips
The moment his lips touched hers, Lila's entire body recoiled.
A mistake.
A violation of something sacred.
She shoved him. Hard.
The force sent Gerald stumbling back a step, but before he could recover, her palm cracked across his cheek.
SMACK!
The impact echoed through the room, slicing through the heavy silence like a whip.
Gerald's head snapped to the side, his jaw tightening as a deep, unnatural stillness settled over him.
Then—footsteps.
Rushed. Urgent.
Troy who came back with his cousin burst into the room, his golden eyes flaring. A maid trailed behind him, eyes wide with panic.
"What the hell—" Troy's words died the moment he saw Gerald's stunned expression and the fury blazing in Lila's eyes.
The maid gasped.
Gerald slowly turned his head back to face her, his cheek flushed red from the impact. But instead of rage, an unsettling smile curved on his lips.
"Well," he said, voice deceptively soft. "That was unexpected."
Troy stiffened. "Lisa," his voice dropped low, warning. "What are you doing?"
"I—" Lila's pulse hammered.
She didn't have an answer.
Didn't know how to explain that the man standing before her was not her fiancé. Not even Gerald.
He was Davis.
Her Davis but he feels so different that it gives a massive ick.
The man who had once held her face so gently and whispered promises under the moon. The man who had vowed to wait for her until she got her wolf.
And yet—he was here. With a different name. A different life. Looking at her like he owned her.
"I don't understand what's happening," she whispered, more to herself than anyone else.
Troy moved first. He stepped between them, his shoulders squared, his stance protective.
"She's not feeling well," Troy said, voice clipped. "It's been a long day. Maybe you should—"
Gerald chuckled. A deep, rich sound, but it held a dangerous edge.
"I'll excuse her temporary confusion," he said, his eyes never leaving Lila's. "She's been through a lot."
He took a step closer.
Troy tensed.
The maid held her breath.
Gerald smirked.
"But let's get one thing straight, darling," he murmured, voice silky with warning. "You can slap me today."
The air shifted.
Dark. Suffocating.
"But in two days," he whispered, "you'll be my wife."
