THE ENEMY IN THE BLOOD
"Move!" The officer barked, pushing me into the police station.
My wrists were in cuffs. My heart pounded in my chest. My mind raced.
I had walked into this war blind. And now I was paying the price.
Inside the station, officers whispered and stared. Some recognize me from the news. The Billionaire wife, the traitor, the scandal.
I was taken to a small grey room and forced into a chair.
You've been caught with highly sensitive documents. She said flatly.
"Care to explain?"
I was given those documents by a witness. Her name was Teresa. She used to work for my father.
"Where is she now?"
She was shot right in front of me.
The officer didn't flinch. Any proof?
She handed me the file. check for fingerprints. DNA.
The blood on the folder…
The woman leaned back. " That blood was wiped clean before it reached us"
My eyes widened. "What?" someone intercepted the file after your arrest.
"Your story is weak and the evidence is gone"
I was framed! I shouted.
or maybe you were involved all along.
My chest rose and fell. I am being set up. And I think I know who.
...…
Meanwhile, Ameer stormed into the family mansion.
"Kamal!" He shouted.
His uncle came down the stairs calmly. "Why are you yelling?"
You had her arrested.
Kamal smiled. She had stolen documents, Ameer.
"You planted them"
She broke into your office, remember? She snooped through the safe. It's all easy to twist.
Just added a little push.
Ameer stepped closer. "You tried to kill my father"
Kamal didn't deny it.
I always hated his soft heart. He said your mother begged him to step down to let me lead, but he chose you. The emotional fool who married a traitor's daughter.
You poisoned your own brother and blamed Nia's family.
I cleaned up our name. I built back the company while you cried over old photos.
You won't get away with this.
Kamal smiled wider. you're just a boy Inlove. And love makes you stupid.
Then he leaned closer.
"And you're too late"
....
Ameer drove fast to the station.
When he arrived, Nia was already gone.
"Where is she?" He demanded.
A young office whispered, "she was moved"
"Moved where"
The man hesitated, then passed him a note under the table.
Ameer opened it.
Safe House 9B. Ask for inspector Gambo.
Without a word, Ameer left.
I sat quietly in the dark room.
My hands were no longer cuffed, but the guards still watched me like a hawk.
Then the door opened. I looked up and saw Ameer, my eyes burned with emotions.
You came!
He crossed to me and held my hands.
I know everything now, he whispered. Kamai set this up. He planned it from the start.
Tears spilled from my eyes.
"Then prove it."
I will, I have a plan.
Ameer returned to the Hassan mansion that night.
Kamal was in the study, pouring himself a glass of wine.
You lost, he said. "Go and mourn your fake marriage"
Ameer smiled slowly "funny, that's what the press will say tomorrow".
Kamal raised a brow.
"What did you do?"
I recorded our last conversation. You confessed everything.
Kamal laughed, No one will believe you.
I already sent the file to ten news stations. Check your phone.
ON the screen was a headline.
" Secret Recording Exposes Billionaire uncle's Betrayal and murder plot".
Live audio playing beneath it… his own voice, admitting to the poisoning and framing.
Ameer stepped closer.
By tomorrow, you'll be in jail.
Suddenly, Kamal grabbed a letter opener from the desk and lunged.
But Ameer was faster.
He dodged, twisted his uncle's arm, and knocked him to the ground.
Guards rushed in.
"Take him away,"Ameer said, breathing hard.
Kamal screamed, you will regret this, Ameer! This family will burn without me!
Ameer looked him in the eyes. Then let it burn. We will build something better.
Two days later, I stood in front of the court, surrounded by cameras.
The charges were dropped.
Teresa's death was reopened.
Kamal was arrested and denied bail.
Ameer stood beside me. Holding my hand.
A reporter leaned forward.
Mrs Hassan, are you staying married?
I looked up at Ameer, then faced the camera.
I married a stranger for my father, I said . But I fell in love with a man who fought for truth…. even when it cost him everything.
The reporter asked. So, love wins?
I smiled, " Not Love. Justice."
Just then the court closed and we went home together. That night, we stood together on the balcony.
The city lights sparked. A soft breeze blew through my braids.
I thought I hated you, I said.
Ameer laughed softly, I thought I would use you.
But somehow…we survived.
He turned to me. I don't want a marriage based on lies anymore.
"Me neither"
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small ring…. not flashy, just simple silver.
He held it out.
No threats. No deals, no families. Just us. Will you marry me again…this time for real.
My eyes filled with tears.
I nodded. " Yes"
He slipped the ring on my finger. Then lips touched, heart healed.
And so we got married and lived happily.
