I parked outside the gates of my parents' ranch. I dropped the boys off at my place to let them graze and wander around their pasture.
I punched in the code and drove through. My diesel engine Ford was rumbling as I pulled up. Both of my parents came out.
I'm the only child in a family of rodeo stars. Yup, my parents are famous also. I put it in park and jumped out, hugging my dad. Then mom.
"How's the boys?" Dad asked. "Keen as ever," I told him. "I'll be over tomorrow to help with practice. Do you still have that partner?" Mom asked.
He finally stopped eating everything and using my trailer for his midnight booty calls. "He's gone," I told her. "You know your father would rodeo with you, but his days are over," Mom said almost scoldingly.
Dad chuckled. "I'd only be team roping." He told her. "Please, mom. Just until I find an actual partner." I said almost begging. "Fine. Leave me at the ranch while you two have fun."
"Hey, it's work too. You know how I hate being truck ridden." I told her. She shook her head. "You two." She said before turning to the house.
Wyatt's POV
I loaded up my trailer and put Rylin's stuff inside too. She wants to go rodeo too. I can't say no to her. I've already got the events I want to do lined up.
She doesn't want to team rope, so that leaves me solo.
Cassi's POV
"So we are going to be staying the night at an old friend of mine," Dad told me as I put the shipping gear on my four baby boys. Then loaded them up according to how they like each other.
The twins are beside each other. Luis is next to Tex, and Tex is next to Roper. Dawson is the first in then it goes Luis, Tex, Roper.
Dad was going to be using Dawson, who halfway tolerates Tex. At least at the rodeo. I closed and locked the trailer up, then got in. Dad got in after me.
We drove about an hour and a half to Marshall, TX. Dad called his friend to get directions to the ranch. Once there, I pulled up to the gates. TRIPLE R RANCH was on the overhead sign.
"He told me to just park in front of the barn," Dad told me. I pulled through after the gate opened and drove the way to the barn. It was a huge ranch.
I pulled up out front of the barn. Dad told me to get the horses while he talked to the man walking up. I got out as dad and the man greeted each other.
"Nah, just her." Dad sounded like he was shouting. "Four all are her's. She bought them and worked with them throughout her high school years." Dad told him.
"Sounds like something my niece has done." The man said, following dad to the back. I unlocked the trailer and opened the doors before pulling the ramp out.
"Cass, I'm sure you remember Colt here?" Dad said stopping. Now I know who that guy is. "Yeah. You and Mikey used to run around with him while you were dating mom." I replied, unclipping Roper. I put a lead on him and walked him down the ramp.
Dad took him from me as I got Tex and Luis. "Oh yeah, and she's got two gay horses." "DAD! Their not gay!" I almost yelled. "Just because Dawson dislikes Tex means nothing. Luis just separates them because Roper and Dawson hate each other." I told him leading Dawson into a stall.
He snapped at Roper. I led him and Luis into the paddock. "Girl knows her horses. If you know they don't travel well together or they absolutely hate each other you've got to separate them." Colt said leading Tex for dad.
"So who's who?" Colt asked. "The bay you have is Tex. I've got the twins. Luis is on my right and Dawson is to my left. My dad is leading Roper." I told him.
"Least you know how to tell them apart." Dad said. Dawson nudged me. Luis moved forwards a few steps. My boot got caught on a rock and Luis intervened.
"Her horses also are cowboy chasers." Dad told him. "They demand her attention." He added. "I've got a horse like that." Colt told dad. "I know and he's a devil to me." Dad replied.
We turned the horses out and put water in the trough. I took their shipping gear off and made sure the floor was clean and took the hay nets down in the trailer.
All four were up at the fence. Dad and Colt went somewhere leaving me with my horses. I stepped into the paddock with a brush and groomed each one of them.
One wanting more attention than the last. I gave them the attention they wanted and a treat for each.
Gravel crunched behind me making me turn around. A girl several years younger than me was watching as I took care of my boys. I walked over to her. "Your welcome to come and meet them." I told her. She smiled and entered.
Dawson and Tex were the first two over to her.
Wyatt's POV
"Looks like my niece has already met her." My dad said as he talked to Nathan. I walked away from my horse to stand beside my dad.
"This would be my oldest, Wyatt." He told Nathan. "Yeah I remember him saying my daughter was cute when he was seven." Nathan said chuckling. "Crazy what eighteen years will do." He told dad.
"Yeah. It is." Dad replied. "Why don't you go see if she's got her horses situated in the paddock." Dad told me. I nodded and walked out. I saw Rylin with a girl close to my age. When she turned her head I couldn't help but stand there.
