Chapter 1 - Tears left behind the hilt

One day, during my travels, I stumbled upon a beautiful place nestled near a towering mountain and a deep green forest. In the heart of the forest stood a massive tree, its branches stretching wide and high. Intrigued, I ventured closer, weaving through the trees until I discovered a small village that surrounded the great tree. The village was charming, full of life, and the people were warm and welcoming.

I decided to stay for a while, and one month quickly turned into a long visit. Among the villagers, I met a young girl named Aelira. She lived alone, as her parents had passed away, and she seemed to take a liking to me right away. At that time I was barely 17. I assumed she was way younger than me. She had a brownish clothes. Dark eyes with a bright yellow hair. Her head was barely near my shoulders.

I stayed with her, helping not just her but the entire village. I hunted in the woods, trained daily, and protected the villagers from dangerous monsters that lurked nearby.

Aelira was always by my side, watching me with wide, curious eyes. I reckoned she saw me as a bigger brother, and i did not push that either. Wherever I went, she followed, her small footsteps trailing close behind. We became inseparable.

One day, as we sat beneath the giant tree, she asked me a question that caught me off guard. "Why do you always carry your sword?"

I smiled, tapping the hilt lightly. "This world can be cruel," I said. "You never know when you'll need to stand your ground and restore peace."

Her eyes sparkled at my words, and she grinned proudly. "I'm so glad to have met someone like you Brolex. You're amazing! So strong! So smart and cool!" She hugged me tightly, her small arms clinging to me with surprising strength.

I could shed a tear at that time. I know that is still something I want to do. Crying in the arms that holds you close. That screams your name. Was that a family? Was that the happiest I have been? I don't know.

After a moment, she stood up. Staying curious and tall. She asked "What's your sword's name?"

I paused, realizing I'd never thought about naming it. "It doesn't have a name," I admitted.

Her brow furrowed, and she crossed her arms with a pout. "What? No! It has to have a name. It's like a friend to you. Your buddy. Like me!"

I chuckled. "Alright, how about this: I'll name it after you. That way, I'll always remember you."

Her face lit up with a bright smile. "That's perfect! You really are the best. That's why I like you, Brolex."

The days passed quickly after that, and soon, my time in the village came to an end. As much as I wanted to stay, I knew I had to return to my own nation. My home.

One morning while packing my things i called out her name. "Aelira," I said gently. She instantly came to my gaze. Intrigued. "I've been here a long time, but it's time for me to go home."

Her smile faltered, and tears syarted welling up in her eyes. "No! Why? Take me with you! I want to stay with you!"

I knelt down and placed a hand on her cheek. "Don't cry please. I can't take you right now, but I promise, one day I'll come back for you."

She wiped her tears and nodded.

''Stay strong. Don't let anyone tell you anything ok?'' I asked

She nodded

I made a small smile and gave her a pink flower—a color she loved because it matched my clothes—and said my goodbyes. As I walked away, her tearful smile stayed with me, a memory. She was looking at me as I was leaving the village.

I looked back and saw Aelira shouting: ''Get back soon! I will miss you Brolex!''. Her eyes was closed while she was screaming. Clearly showing how hard she was trying and being loud.

''I will bring you 1000 flowers! For you million times over!'' I screamed back. She waved. And that was the last time I saw her since. My little non blood related sister.
