Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Day the Sky turned purple

The discovery was found as the greatest find in human history.

A meteor nearly ten kilometers in length, was detected just outside Earth's orbit and it wasn't just rock it is filled with dense deposit of gold, nickel, and materials that are not found on earth made scientists mad. Satellite scans showed it worth more than the GDP of every nation combined.

But it was impossible tosingle country had the technology or money to extract it. So, for the first time in the world, the world cooperated.

Twelve nations formed the idea constructing a massive station in space to mine the meteor. It took years. Billions of dollars. And hundreds of the world best minds.

When the first drill bored into the meteor, it was meant to be the beginning of a golden age.

No one expected what happened next. The moment the drill hit something , a strange purple mist burst out from some unnatural source within the meteor . The gas moved fast, swirling through space like it had a mind of its own.

Within minutes, it reached Earth's upper atmosphere.

The next morning, people saw sky that was no longer blue.It was pure purple.

People panicked. Scientists argued. Governments issued calming statements.

And yet nothing happened.

No one died. No sickness spread. In fact, people across the globe reported a strange sensation—a comforting warmth in their chest. Like a gentle heat that made them feel so good.

And so, the fear faded. The world returned to normal.

But that illusion shattered in a matter of days.

Animals were the first to change.

Animals across the world began to evolve. A golden retriver in California with glowing red eyes. It cut through its owner like paper. In Japan, birds with metallic feathers attacked pedestrians. Zoo animals in Berlin broke out slaughtering everything in their path.

Forests became alive.Vines cracked buildings open like eggshells. Trees twisted into monstrous shapes, striking down helicopters with whip-like branches. Entire towns were swallowed overnight by evolving forest.

The world was no longer safe.

Governments responded quickly, evacuating citizens to transfer into Protected Cities massive zones fortified with steel walls

Then a new phenomenon emerged.

Awakenings.

It started with one man in China who killed his mutated housecat in self-defense. Moments after its death, a glowing message appeared in his mind :

> [You have slain your first Evolved Beast. Talent Awakening: Fire Element]

The impossible became reality. That man could now make flames from his fingertips. The rules of world had changed.

Soon, others followed. Killing a beast was the only known method to awaken a Talent. Fire, ice, lightning, metal, shadow—unique powers began to emerge. Some weak. Some strong . Some are godlike.

And the most terrifying part is ?

No one knew how many talents existed . Or what the limits were.

Humanity had entered a new era.

Two Weeks Later – Kyoto, Japan

Seventeen-year-old Ren Kurozawa stood outside Higashi High School , gripping a crumpled expulsion letter.

Great he muttered. Kicked out Again.

He hadn't even thrown the first punch this time. But it didn't matter. The school board had long since run out of patience for a student like him—quiet , distant , always walking the edge of trouble.

Now, walking home through the narrow alleys of his neighborhood , Ren wondered how he would explain it to his parents.

Then he heard a strange noise.

He stopped . The alley in front was half shadowed by a fence. As he come closer , a sharp glint caught his eye fangs .

A massive rat, its fur streaked with black and gold, was hunched over a dead person. Its body was bigger than any rat he ever seen almost like the size of a dog.

And its eye glowing faintly red.

What the hell ?

Ren stepped back , but it was too late. The rat turned, its body moving unnaturally. Then it attacked .

Instinctively Ren reached into his jacket and pulled out a pocket knife something he is always carrying but never truly used.

He slashed.

A screech then blood.

When the world stilled, the rat lay dead, twitching faintly at his feet.

Ren stared at it, breathing heavy , knife shaking in his hand.

Just then

[You have slain a Level 2 Beast.]

[God Talent Awakened: Devourer]

[Ability: Kill and Devour.

Optional: Soul Challenge devour corpses of creatures you did not kill, but you must defeat their soul to succeed.]

What...?

Ren backed up, his heart pounding. A glowing message hovered in his mind, like words etched into his thoughts.

He had heard rumors. Ever since the sky turned purple, strange abilities had begun to appear. Mostly in soldiers or people who had killed one of the mutated beasts.

They called it Awakening and each person gained a unique Talent. Some had elemental powers. Others could enhance their bodies. The stronger the monster they killed, the greater the chance of Awakening.

But God Talent ?

That is something different.

Ren looked at the rat's body, still oozing blood. Something stirred inside him

He called

"Devour"

He said the word aloud.

A shadow rapped around the corpse. It wrapped the body in black mist and consumed it in seconds, leaving nothing behind.

[Devour Successful]

[+5 Speed]

[New Talent Acquired: Swift Speed]

A current ran through his veins. His body felt lighter. The world seemed to slow, just barely around him.

This is real.

He clenched his fists, staring at the empty spot where the corpse had been.
