Chapter 1 - A Bunny!

Hi, I am Noella I am 14 years old. My bestest friends are Mae and Risa we been friends since we were babies and there isn't anything that we don't keep from each other. They know about my five year standing crush on Kaito and there he is looking just as fine as the day I met him. Shhhhh! Don't tell him I'm looking at him.

She snuck a glance around the corner and there was Kaito, her crush, casually hanging out at his locker. Her heart did an acrobatic flip and her cheeks went full-on cherry red. She spun around to perfect her twin pigtails, took a deep breath, and stole another peek at him.

Kaito is freaking cool! I swear by all that's sparkly and bright, he's my soulmate just how Mama and Papa are each other soulmate.

The bells chimed like a countdown to class, but she was lost in a daydream factory, crafting epic sagas starring her crush. In her mind, she'd nervously squeak out a "hi," and he'd whisk her off her feet, proposing on bended knee, eyes twinkling like diamonds. She snapped back to reality, her cheeks a rosy hue from her vivid imagination.

"H-Hey, Kaito. How about we walk to class together?" she whispered, her voice barely above a flutter.

But lo and behold, Kaito had vanished, along with everyone else in the hallway. Panic set in—she was about to be late for class, yet again. Already 49 tardies deep, and the big 5-0 meant... trouble.

She bolted toward her homeroom, eyes wide with hope as she spied the door still ajar. Just as she made her daring leap for the entrance, it slammed shut, and she collided face-first with the door. Twenty-five minutes later, the teacher finally opened the door, handing her a detention slip as a souvenir of her misadventure.

Darn it!

She dragged her feet to her desk and plopped down into her seat, a large Band-Aid prominently displayed on her forehead. Just before the lecture commenced, she discreetly waved to her closest friends, Mae and Risa. As she observed the teacher writing symbols and equations on the board, confusion washed over her; she understood none of it. Instead, she busily scribbled in her notebook, embellishing her and Kaito's names with sparkles and hearts, inscribing "forever" beneath them.

Unbeknownst to her, the teacher was distributing report cards and abruptly placed hers atop her notebook, whispering, "Perhaps if you devoted more attention to your studies than your doodling, you could avoid summer school. With these grades, there's little chance you can make up for this before the end of the school year."

It was indeed her worst nightmare: she was failing every single class, with an astounding zero as her lowest percentage.

My parents are going to kill me!

Noella trudged along, clutching her progress report, tears cascading down her cheeks. Flanking her were her best pals, Mae and Risa, their walk-home tradition dating back to preschool days.

"I can't believe I've got straight A's!" Risa exclaimed, practically glowing. "My mom's gonna burst with pride—and hopefully, my candy stash will too!"

"I landed A's and B's. I can't wait to show my mom and stepdad—they'll be over the moon. Maybe I'll score a new comic book!" Mae grinned, her smile wide as a Cheshire cat. "What about you, Nola?" they both chimed in, aiming their curiosity at Noella. Nola was her go-to nickname.

"I'm a bit behind," Noella admitted, her friends peeking over her shoulder, their jaws hitting the floor.

"Zero percent in everything? How on earth did you pull that off?" they gasped.

I know, I know.

Noella stumbled, tripping over a rabbit she hadn't noticed, assuming it was some cheeky kid's rock trap. "Those pesky kids! I'll show them!" she grumbled, rolling up her sleeve in a huff—until something magical caught her eye.

"Bunny!~" they squealed in unison, enchanted.
