I sat at a corner as I watched my family and the people seated, looking worried, scared and restless. The smell of damp earth filled my nose and I caught myself fetching a handful and bringing it to my nose. Realizing what I was doing, I threw the soil away. A chuckle filled my ears and I turned to see an older woman looking at me in amusement. I blushed in embarrassment. We were supposed to leave Wolftown last week but Cyrus said he wanted to fight his uncle first. He never came but then we were suddenly attacked this morning. I tried to make Cyrus stay but it was of no use and now we were here, awaiting their victorious arrival. The woman sitting beside me was the one who created and closed the cave. She said she would know if they came.
"It's normal though, many pregnant females love the smell of damp earth." She said and it took me over five minutes to register her words. Pregnant? How can I be pregnant within just two weeks? I scowled. I wanted to enjoy my last two years of teenage peacefully. Cyrus. I growled in my head. He probably had the intention of impregnating me that's why he never used protection. I also didn't like pills because first, I hated medicine and second, pills could change my hormone balance. Did he know? Because I realized that since last week, he has been rubbing my belly and kissing it. I huffed, suddenly irritated. It was all quiet for a while. Clarissa looked worried but my parents were comforting her. Lorenzo was also comforting my brother.
Just then, the woman started sniffing, "she is here. That snake is here." She whispered. I frowned, looking at her for answers. "Christina. She betrayed the pack for her parents." She replied. Christina? Thinking about it, I realized that I had not seen her for a week. "She won't be able to get past your magic, right?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at the woman. She replied, "she was once my student. I thought her how to create, open and close a cave." Great. Just what I needed to hear at a time like this. The cave opened and the guards here got into action. The lady who had attacked Cyrus on our first day here, was the leader. What was her name again? Laura?
Christina was surprisingly a good fighter. She wounded the guards but she didn't kill them. She stormed towards Clarissa with an arrow aimed at her. Everyone began to panick. My heart skipped a beat. My best friend was in trouble. The woman beside me suddenly nudged me. I looked at her while she put a dagger in my hand. "You will need it." She whispered. Nodding, I slowly hid it and stood up. "I knew you never liked Xerxes. You just wanted the title." I said. She turned to me, aiming the arrow at me. I just smirked at her. "I know Cyrus and Xerxes are not dead. They are coming for you." I said.
"Don't be so happy, Luna, I would hate to kill you before you even get to marry Alpha King Cyrus." I tightly held the dagger, glaring at her. "Leave Aelia out of this and face me instead, Christina." Clarissa said. Christina turned to her again, "shut up!" Immediately she turned, I used that opportunity to stab her in the neck with the dagger. She shot the arrow in shock and pain but Clarissa and my parents had already ducked down as if expecting my move. "This is what happens to betrayers. They end up getting betrayed too." I said and hit her with my leg. Christina fell on the floor, gasping for air as blood pooled out of her neck. I just killed someone. My heart clenched in guilt. I had no right to take Christina's soul. I sighed.
Cyrus and Xerxes, along with the other guards rushed into the cave. Since Christina had opened it up, it was now a physical cave.
"Aelia!"
"Clarissa!"
Cyrus and Xerxes called out as they rushed to us. Cyrus kept sniffing my body and rubbing my belly. "You smell pleasantly different." He whispered, kissing the bite mark on my neck that now looked like a tattoo. I saw the stronger guards helping their weak friends out of the cave. "Are you okay?" Cyrus asked me. I looked at him, annoyed. He got me pregnant and he was asking if I was okay? "Don't touch me." I slapped his arms away and walked towards the entrance of the cave. "What? Aelia, what did I do now?" He asked. Was he asking me right now? I sighed and walked out.
I watched as everyone went back to their various homes. Windows and doors were shattered but the carpenters amongst them had started working on them. Cyrus jogged after me. Ignoring him, I entered the mansion and walked towards our suite. Once he had entered the room after me, he locked the door and asked, "what did I do?" He asked. "What did you do? What did you do?! You impregnated me, Cyrus. That's what you did! I only wanted to enjoy the last two years of teenage before I turn twenty and now I am pregnant at eighteen." He looked at me in disbelief. "Enjoyment does not come with consequences, Aelia and how is that entirely my fault? We both did the deed." He argued, chuckling after speaking. Then he turned serious as he approached me. "You're not going to abort our child, are you? You don't have to worry, I will take responsibility and do the needful. About school, when you begin to show, you could stay home. I will teach you and assess you myself. Once you give birth, I will help you exercise so you could get back in shape. I will be a stay at home dad, if you want so you could complete your education. Just don't abort or hate our baby, I beg you." He pleaded I have never seen Cyrus looking this vulnerable.
"I am not that heartless to hate or worse abort our baby, Cyrus. I'm just upset that I got pregnant at eighteen." I explained it to her. A smug smirk replaced his sad expression as he leaned in and whispered, "you never complained when we fucked raw, you seem to love it even and now you're upset that you're pregnant." Blushing, I hit his arm and he chuckled. He had little to no filter. "Shut up." I glared at him.
