Chapter 9 - The Vale of Storms

The skies above the Vale of Storms raged endlessly, a violent dance of thunder and lightning. Wind screamed like ancient spirits, and the land below was shattered rock and blackened trees. It was a place the world had forgotten—except those who feared the gods.

Varnax flew low, wings trembling as the storms lashed against his scales.

"Even the air here is angry," Riven muttered.

"That's because something powerful is chained here," Kaito said, gripping the hilt of Nightcleaver. "The last Blade Crystal… the final piece of me."

At the heart of the vale stood a colossal altar of jagged stone. Bolts of lightning struck it every few seconds, feeding the chained figure atop it.

A Titan.

Its skin was cracked stone and molten gold, eyes like smoldering suns. Shackled by glowing runes, it barely moved—but power radiated from it.

"That's a god?" Kaito asked.

"No," a voice echoed. "A fallen one."

The Titan stirred. Its voice shook the air. "You are the Blade Emperor… I remember breaking your armies."

"You'll remember me differently this time," Kaito replied, stepping forward.

The Titan laughed. "I see. Another mortal grasping at shards of power. Come then. Test yourself."

The chains shattered.

The Titan rose to its full height—ten times that of a man—and swung a massive blade of lightning. The ground split.

Kaito leapt forward.

Steel met storm.

Nightcleaver cut through arcs of lightning, but the Titan moved like thunder made flesh. Each strike pushed Kaito back—his body bruised, burning.

But he had not come this far to fall.

"I carry the will of my past… and the fire of my future!"

He called upon all three Blade Crystals.

His blade ignited with blue, red, and gold energy.

He dashed forward, climbing the Titan's arm like a whirlwind—and drove his sword deep into its chest.

The Titan roared.

And then—fell.

The storm stopped.

Lightning ceased. Silence returned.

And from the Titan's heart, the final Blade Crystal emerged—white, pulsing with divine power.

Kaito took it.

The final piece of his soul snapped into place.

He glowed with power, eyes blazing.

Riven approached. "You've become more than what you were."

"I've become what I was meant to be," Kaito said.

But far in the distance… something dark stirred.

A figure stood watching.

The Veil Lord.

And beside him… Elyria.

Her violet eyes, once soft, now burned with shadow.

"She lives," Kaito whispered.

Riven saw her too. "And she's no longer yours."

Kaito tightened his grip on Nightcleaver.

"Then I'll win her back… or fall trying."
