Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4

Dante's POV

I walked into the room and perceived a stench smell. My clothes were littered around the floor too. Who would have done this?

"Who is in there?" I asked, still standing close to the door.

I bent over to pick up my clothes, but something caught my attention. Long claw marks were on the floor and a little on the wall. At first, I thought it was a dog and wondered what a dog could be doing in my room. The last time I checked, I locked my door before leaving with Mateo. The marks were still fresh and deep enough to send shivers down my spine.

Maybe someone was trying to play a prank on me as a fresher, and they must be good at it.

I jolted when I heard the door to the bathroom creak. It was as though something or someone was watching me from there. I grabbed my night lamp, holding it high above my shoulder and ready to deal with whoever or whatever that is in there. I heard a faint crackling sound and felt something shift under my foot. I looked down and saw that it was my watch- my favorite one. My girlfriend got it for me on my last birthday.

While I was still feeling bad about the watch, I heard a growl that nearly made me pee in my pants. It came from the bathroom.

I froze for a bit before gathering the courage to push the door open, still armed with my night lamp. I peeped inside but found nothing.

The growl came again, this time behind me and louder than the first one. In a swift movement, I turned around, but found nothing. The light suddenly starts flickering, and from the horror movies that I've watched, bad things always happen whenever the light starts flickering. My breath quickened as I tried to locate where the growl was coming from.

The light suddenly went off, and I hastily reached for my phone to call 911. If today is going to be my last day on earth, someone needs to know how I died.

"911, what's your emergency?" a lady's voice came from the other end of the call.

"I think…"

Before I could complete my statement, my phone went dead.

"Shit!" I cursed, smashing my phone on the floor.

To make things worse, the whole light in the building went off, and I couldn't possibly run away.

I felt a gush of wind pass behind me and turned to see what that was, but everything was shrouded in darkness. My whole body was already shaking, and the room suddenly became cold, but I was still sweating profusely.

The wind came again, and this time I felt something or someone watching me. On second thought, I wish I had never left the party. Damn the consequences.

I slowly turned to find a figure before me. It was broad and had the shape of a dog, except it was way taller than a dog. Its eyes were gleaming in the darkness. One of the eyes was deep blue while the other was golden with a black circle around it. I have never seen anything like that before.

I threw the lamp where the creature was, but it didn't flinch. In a blur of motion, too fast for me to comprehend. I felt myself on the floor, and the creature above me growling. Suddenly, I felt warmth spreading down my leg, and it took me a second to realize what had happened. I'd peed on myself.

I think I died twice, and each time I wake up, I still see the creature above me.

Its breath was hot and heavy in the cold air. My body remained frozen, and I couldn't even scream or move a muscle. It was drooling all over my face. I managed to free myself from it and scrambled to the wall, hoping the wall would protect me.

"Stay away from me."

I know I mentioned earlier that I'm tired of life, but I don't wish to die like this.

The creature stopped growling and stared at me for a while. I guess it must be contemplating whether to kill me now or drag me while alive to wherever it came from. It took a few steps forward before turning and bolting out of my room, leaving me gasping for breath on the floor. Immediately, it left, and the light came on.

I was still on the floor, with my right hand on my chest. It felt as if my heart was going to pump out of my ribcage. I was still processing what had just happened when my phone suddenly buzzed beside me without warning.

If I were drunk, it would have been different, but I am sure the phone went dead while trying to call for help. This only happens in horror movies, and I think this place might be haunted.

Without thinking twice, I picked myself back up, packed a few of my clothes, and bolted out of the room. Every nerve in my body was buzzing, and I couldn't get a firm grip on my backpack. I tried using the lobby's elevator, but it was all to no avail, so I decided to use the stairs instead.

Immediately, I got to the last floor, I slipped on something, and the last thing I remembered was my head hitting the floor before I finally blacked out.

I think this is it.

This is the time I meet my creator.
