The River Gazing Pavilion was absolutely breathtaking.
Floor-to-ceiling windows wrapped around three sides of the room, offering a panoramic view of New York City's glittering skyline. The fourth wall featured an enormous traditional painting of mountains shrouded in mist. Crystal chandeliers cast warm light over mahogany furniture that probably cost more than most people's cars.
A dining table sat in the center, already set with fine china and crystal glasses. Fresh orchids adorned every surface, filling the air with their delicate fragrance.
"This is unbelievable," Zara breathed, her voice hushed with awe.
Felix walked slowly to the windows, his reflection ghostlike against the city lights. "I've never seen anything like this."
Even Evelyn looked impressed, though she tried to hide it. She glanced at me with questioning eyes. I just shrugged.
