Aiden Knight's POV
I release my grip on the woman's wrist and step back, letting my qi flow through my meridians. The familiar warmth spreads through my body, sharpening my senses to inhuman levels.
Four additional operatives. All closing in from different angles.
The woman in front of me flexes her fingers, trying to restore circulation. "Last warning. Walk away."
"You know what your problem is?" I roll my shoulders, loosening up. "You came hunting a man, but found a monster instead."
She frowns at my words, clearly not understanding the distinction.
The first operative drops from the adjacent building onto my rooftop. Male, lean build, moves like a dancer. Twin daggers in his hands catch the moonlight as he advances.
"Marcus is getting impatient down there," he calls to the woman. "Should have been a simple observation job."
Marcus. So there are more of them.
"Plans changed," the woman replies, her eyes never leaving mine. "Target is more aware than anticipated."
