Chapter 1 - An Unfamiliar Place

You are awake, finally. I have been wondering when You would wake up. Call me the Storyteller.

...

Not one for words are You? Can You tell me Your name?

...

Still nothing? Are You even listening?

...

I will take Your blank stares as a yes. Do you know how and why You are here?

...

I do not know why I expected an answer. Can You at least nod Your head?

[You nod.]

Well, at least You can do that. Still unfamiliar and scared are You? That's fine. It takes some time to get used to here. I suppose I should tell You where this is. This is what I refer to as the Outerworld. It exists outside of the multiverse and was made by somebody who came far before us. It is decently furnished and homely enough to live in. You should have a seat, the couches are fine to sit on, even if they aren't the highest end.

[You have a seat.]

So can You remember much of anything about how You got here or what happened to the world?

[You shake Your head.]

That's not very reassuring. Well, we do have all the time in the world, so I suppose I can tell You at some point, but let me show You around the place. Follow me.

[The Storyteller and You get up.]

This room is the library, although the books are so old that they practically fall apart at the touch of a finger. The room which You left was one of the bedrooms.

[The Storyteller points to the door which You left from.]

Let's go to the main hall, shall we?

[The Storyteller leaves though a door.]

[You follow.]

This is the main hall, which leads to the rest of the major areas. You probably want some fresh air right now, right? Let's go to the garden. I needed to water the plants in the greenhouse anyway.

[The Storyteller walks to the end of the hall.]

[You follow.]

This is the garden, it isn't the best garden but it works.

[You peer out into a garden of grass, dandelions, tulips and oaks. You notice a greenhouse but something more glaring becomes apparent.]

Ah, the wonderful outdoors, isn't it great?

[The Storyteller notices Your confusion.]

What's wrong?

[The Storyteller directs his attention to where You are searching.]

Ah, the sun, right. Since we are outside of the universes, we can't get any sunlight, but the plants sure don't seem to mind.

[The Storyteller grabs the watering can.]

Come, I can tell You what happened to the world while I water the plants.

[The two of you walk to the greenhouse.]

So, do you remember what the world was like, at least roughly?

[You nod.]

That is good. Do you remember anything after 2019?

[You shake Your head.]

Hmm. I suppose we can start from there.

Tale 0: The Unraveling

As the clock struck midnight and fireworks fired off into the sky, people were optimistically looking forward towards the future. Then, the ground ripped apart, destroying cities and killing millions. From San Francisco to Warsaw, Moscow to Tokyo, these "Rifts" would appear and destroy everything which they touched. But while the world was shocked, more issues would appear.

Titans, huge creatures made of stone and earth would emerge from the Rifts. They varied wildly in size and material. In the Sahara, there were the Sand Titans, barely above a foot and would collapse at a strong gust of wind, while in Guangzhou there were the 5 King Titans, made of steel and concrete and reaching into the clouds. Nobody knew how they came to be or how they functioned. Some said it was magic, others said it was extraterrestrial technology. I find all of these to be unrealistic, but nothing about this situation was.

I have dubbed these events the Unraveling, where everything started coming apart. No one was spared, regardless of universe. All suffered through these same events.

End of Tale 0

[Having watered all the plants, The Storyteller turns to You.]

Well, did you enjoy my storytelling? I have gotten a bit rusty since I haven't spoken to anyone in a while. You do seem like You paid attention and You seem to be a very good listener. Would you mind if I call You Listener?

[You nod.]

Alright Listener, would you like to go inside and listen to more stories?

[You nod.]
