Chapter 1 - Ch:0 Prologue: The Mark That Burned

"People want power more than peace. But when you're born with something powerful inside you... it can destroy everything you love."

In the world of martial arts, power was everything.

It didn't matter how kind you were.

Or how hard you trained.

If you didn't have power, you were nothing.

But there was one power even the strongest sects feared —

The Scarlet Mark.

Long ago, a legendary creature called the phoenix burned itself to protect the world. Its ashes were sealed in a hidden cave — and with it, a powerful treasure called the Vessel of Flame.

No one could reach it.

Not even the strongest martial artists.

The only one who could unlock the vessel… was the person born with the Scarlet Mark — shaped like a phoenix, glowing red as fire.

But that person would never have peace.

Because the moment the mark appeared, the entire world would hunt them. But one day, someday that mark will appear on someone again because it's inevitable. The day it will turn up again the chaos is certain. The blood shed will happen. Even the heaven and demon realms will be shaken by the power that mark..the person will hold.

Seventeen years later...

The sky was red and full of smoke indicating the painful agony which was happening.

Flames rose high in the air as screams echoed across the mountains. The once-beautiful Crimson Wing Sect was now burning to the ground.

Bodies of disciples lay on the ground, swords broken, talismans torn. The air smelled like ash and blood.

In the middle of this chaos…

a boy ran.

His name was Shen Yun.

Just seventeen years old.

His white robes were stained with red. His hands shook as he ran past the training halls, the garden, the library — all gone now. Fire crackled behind him. People he had grown up with… gone in a moment.

He didn't know who had attacked.

They came suddenly — wearing masks, with poisoned blades and dark spiritual energy.

They said nothing. They just destroyed.

Shen Yun made it to the main hall where his master lay injured, blood dripping from his mouth.

"Shen Yun…" the old man whispered, holding a scroll covered in protective seals.

"Don't let them have it… and don't let them have you."

"Master—!"

"The mark will awaken now. You must run."

At first, Shen Yun didn't understand.

Then — burning pain.

He screamed as something scorched his wrist, as if fire had bitten into his skin. He looked down and saw it:

A glowing phoenix-shaped mark, spreading from his wrist like flames.

His body shook.

His heart felt too loud.

The mark throbbed with heat and power — like it was alive.

At that moment he went through many emotions..

Was it fear or sadness?

Perhaps it was his guilt for not being strong enough..to even protect his master.

His master smiled weakly.

"The Scarlet Mark… has chosen you."

"Inside the southern mountains… hidden deep in a cave... lies the Vessel of Flame."

"This mark… is the key."

"If they take you, the world will fall."

"Now go."

"Shifu-.." It came out like a whisper from Shen Yun mouth he wanted to say a lot. Ask many questions which had left him confused but it was too late now..

His master's hand fell to the ground.

He was gone.

Later that night…

The sky was quiet now. The fire had gone out, leaving only black smoke and glowing embers.

Shen Yun stood far away on a cliff, looking back at the ruins of his home.

He didn't cry.

His body was numb, his eyes blank. The wind blew his hair across his face as the mark on his wrist glowed softly in the dark.

"Why… me?..It's all so confusing..what did shifu even meant by this mark isn't it just a normal birth mark?" he whispered.

There was no answer.

Only the faint hum of the mark — like a heart that would never stop beating.

That night, Shen Yun decided he will no longer be weak and remember what his shifu told him. Not let them see this mark. Not let anyone take me. He won't be weak anymore he will become one of the top martial artist.

🏯 Elsewhere… in a dark palace

Far away, under red beautiful lanterns emitting the golden light indicating something auspicious happening..

A man sat on a tall throne.

His name was Li Jiang — leader of the Nine Gates Sect.

Beside him stood his son—Li Feng, ready to take the title of new sect leader. He was just twenty two yet capable to rule the whole sect.

He was calm, cruel, and known as the Iron Flame — a man who can destroy sects with one glance.

Even after being this powerful he wanted more.

Power beyond all limits.

End of Prologue

A boy with fire in his blood.

A man with power in his heart and desire for more..

What will happen next? Will they meet? Will the fate will lead them to each other and make them sworn enemies..? Or..will something deeper develop?
