"Line up, one at a time!"
Learning the girls' dormitory was cleared by Gu Tianchen, Lin Qiye rushed to the school gate, directing surviving freshmen and seniors to queue.
Leng Xuan opened a section of his Unrestrained Void Domain to let them exit.
Lin Qiye's eyes flashed gold, scanning the students.
"You, step out!"
His straight sword gleamed coldly in the sunlight, pointing at a male infected hiding among the students.
The singled-out boy's eyes flickered with venom but quickly masked it, pointing at himself innocently. "Me?"
"No tricks with me."
Lin Qiye's golden eyes blazed, Seraph's Divine Majesty freezing the infected in place.
Whoosh!
A cold flash, and the infected's head rolled, blooming like a bloody petal.
Nearby students recoiled in fear. Lin Qiye glanced at the queue's end, where several infected trying to blend in slunk away.
"Sister Hongying, a few infected are fleeing north from the gate," Lin Qiye reported via earpiece.
"Got it. I'll handle these stragglers. By the way, we haven't heard from Gu Tianchen. Where's he at?" Hongying asked, puzzled.
"A few minutes ago, I sensed him in the freshman academic building, probably clearing out remaining infected," Lin Qiye replied.
Freshman Academic Building.
"Alan… I'm… so scared!" a girl's timid voice whispered.
"Shh!"
Alan peeked out from a bathroom stall, scanning outside before ducking back.
"Quiet, or you'll draw those monsters. You don't want to be eaten, do you?"
"But why didn't we run with the others? Why hide here?" another girl asked.
Three frail girls huddled in the cramped, dim stall, pale from terror.
Alan rolled her eyes. "Are you dumb? Haven't you seen disaster movies? Rushing out blindly gets you killed."
"From my vast movie-watching experience, hiding somewhere safe and waiting for rescue is the smartest move."
Alan's expression oozed smugness.
"But… this isn't a movie. Are you sure it's safe?" another girl asked, voice trembling.
"Guaranteed safe. No one will find—"
Click!
Before Alan finished, the stall door swung open.
"Ah!!!"
The girls' piercing screams could've shattered glass.
Even Gu Tianchen, with his Nine Revolutions Mysterious Art-enhanced physique, felt his eardrums protest…
"Enough!"
Seeing a roguishly handsome boy—not a man-eating monster—the girls slowly stopped screaming.
"Eaten yet?" Gu Tianchen asked, grinning.
Alan's face soured. "Classmate, that question's a bit off in a bathroom, don't you think?"
"Fine, new question. Eaten anyone yet?" Gu Tianchen asked, smiling at one girl.
Alan snapped, "What's that mean? We're besties, always together. You think there's a monster among us?"
"Congrats, you nailed it."
Whoosh!
Gu Tianchen's sword flashed, beheading the frail, pitiful-looking girl in the middle.
Warm blood splattered the other two, triggering another world-ending shriek.
"Ah!!!"
"You… you killed Xiuxiu!!" Alan screamed, pointing at Gu Tianchen.
"Stop showing off. Want to live? Follow me. And ditch your movie-wisdom nonsense."
Gu Tianchen led the two girls out, joined by a dozen other students he'd saved from various floors.
They gazed at him like he was a superhero, eyes full of awe.
"Senior Tianchen, you're so cool! Got a girlfriend?"
"Senior Tianchen, are you a cultivator? Can you teach me? I'm dying to sword-fly!"
"Senior Tianchen, I owe you my life. I can only repay you with my heart."
"You're a guy—repay with what heart?" Gu Tianchen lightly kicked the smitten boy aside.
"See that sword-wielding hot guy at the gate? Go to him. He'll get you out safely," Gu Tianchen said.
Alan looked worried. "Senior Tianchen, aren't you coming?"
Gu Tianchen eyed the sophomore academic building in the distance—the epicenter of the infected.
Sophomore Academic Building, Fifth Floor.
"Quick, boys, stack desks and chairs to block the door!"
"Girls, help tend to the injured!"
"What?! Survivors on the third floor?! Axe team, with me!!"
Li Yifei raised a fire axe, leading a dozen burly boys armed with makeshift weapons.
Both corridor ends were barricaded with furniture, but dozens of monsters pounded against them.
"Brother Fei, how do we get down?"
Li Yifei glanced at the corridor railing…
"Got it! Boys, tie your clothes together—we're rappelling to the third floor!"
They knotted shirts into a rope, dangling it down.
Li Yifei went first, descending movie-style, inch by inch.
Seeing him land safely, others followed, rescuing third-floor survivors.
"Li Yifei's so cool. I was always focused on Gu Tianchen, but he's pretty great too," a girl whispered.
"Ahem… no dating," Teacher Wang said, adjusting his glasses.
…
Third Floor, Class 8, Sophomore Year.
Li Yifei's axe team killed two monsters, preparing to evacuate survivors.
A bespectacled, delicate boy dissected Li Yifei's flawed escape plan ruthlessly.
The first floor was swarmed with dozens of monsters, blocking their exit. The fourth and fifth floors' corridors were similarly overrun.
Six more monsters climbed the third-floor corridors, charging Li Yifei's group.
They'd barely handled two monsters together. Against six, the axe team retreated to Class 8.
Twenty boys braced the door, but it was giving way.
Whoosh!
Gu Tianchen's Han sword blazed with Dutian Divine Fire, tearing into the monsters like a wolf among sheep.
The monsters roared, their sharp fangs snapping at him, but couldn't pierce his skin…
Why's this guy so tough?!
With Dutian Divine Fire, Gu Tianchen dispatched them effortlessly, one slash per monster.
"Holy crap! Tianchen! You're here!" Li Yifei rushed over like he'd seen family.
"Wait—there's dozens of monsters on the first floor. How'd you get up?" Li Yifei asked, stunned.
"Walked up," Gu Tianchen said calmly.
"You just… walked up? What about the monsters?"
"Killed them all, obviously," Gu Tianchen said, smiling.
The group stared at his blood-soaked uniform and dripping Han sword, recalling his melon-slicing monster kills, and shivered.
"Any more monsters?" Gu Tianchen asked, excited.
"F-Fourth floor," a boy stammered.
"Jie jie jie, little darlings, your VIP has arrived!"
Gu Tianchen, Han sword in hand, charged after the fourth-floor monsters.
Hearing his maniacal laugh, the group couldn't tell who the real monster was…
