c3: Obtaining the Unlimited Kaio-ken
Luya smiled with a cryptic expression and began recounting everything he knew.
After some time had passed…
"Frieza… was actually resurrected?" Gohan and Piccolo's expressions became grave, their faces shadowed with unease. The very name of the Emperor of the Universe, a tyrant who once ruled with fear, still echoed in their memories with chilling clarity.
"Dad defeated him twice," Gohan said with clenched fists. "Once on Namek, and again when Frieza returned as Golden Frieza, but… to think he's back again and so soon!"
Piccolo's face was just as tense. "Frieza's cruelty and power… I haven't forgotten. I died at his hands once. I didn't even get the chance to fight him seriously, and still… he annihilated me."
He turned to Luya, narrowing his eyes. "How do you know all this? You only just arrived on Earth."
The Namekian's voice was measured, but suspicious. Was this Saiyan like Future Trunks, a time traveler from a devastated future?
Luya gave a half-smile and spoke like a man guarding secrets: "I have my sources. What matters is Frieza is alive. Not only that he's stronger than ever. Right now, he's training. He'll launch an invasion of Earth in less than four months."
Gohan stiffened. "Frieza's… training?"
Luya nodded. "And he's already passed the level of a typical Super Saiyan."
He didn't elaborate further not yet. Telling them that Frieza in his base form could now overwhelm a Super Saiyan like Gohan would kill their morale. This way, he could keep the urgency and mystery alive.
Piccolo and Gohan exchanged a silent glance. Finally, Piccolo spoke. "True or not, we can't take chances. We'll regroup and plan."
Gohan nodded, then turned back to Luya and smiled. "Luya, right? If you don't mind… would you like to stay with us? You're a Saiyan, and we could really use another ally."
Piccolo's brows twitched slightly at the invitation, but he said nothing.
Luya was taken aback. He hadn't expected an offer of hospitality but given he had nowhere else to go, he nodded. "Alright. I'll stay with you for a while."
Before returning home, they made a quick detour to Capsule Corporation, where Luya handed over the mysterious space capsule for Bulma's analysis.
Upon seeing Luya, Bulma was visibly intrigued. "Another Saiyan?" she asked, studying his features. "Well, you're certainly more polite than Vegeta was when we first met."
With her husband being a proud Saiyan prince, Bulma had long since accepted Saiyan culture and even welcomed Luya with enthusiasm, curious about his origin.
After a short visit, the trio left.
Over the following days, Luya resided at Gohan's home. He seized the opportunity to request instruction in some core Earth techniques like the Turtle Style Qigong (Kamehameha) which Gohan gladly taught.
Meanwhile, word spread among Earth's defenders. Krillin, Tien, Yamcha, and Android 18 learned about Luya—and more shockingly, the news of Frieza's resurrection.
At first, most were skeptical. But as Gohan presented more evidence especially from Bulma's space capsule and advanced scans their disbelief turned into grim acceptance.
Even Krillin, who had traded his gi for a police uniform, resigned temporarily from duty to resume training, knowing full well the terror Frieza once brought.
About a week later, Bulma received a chilling confirmation. Jaco the Galactic Patrolman (though often dismissed as incompetent) had contacted her personally.
"It's true," Jaco confirmed, his face pale even over the video call. "Frieza's alive… and he's coming."
The news shook everyone. The warriors of Earth, both human and alien, began rigorous training once more. Frieza's threat was no longer a rumor it was a countdown.
Two months later...
Luya had made astonishing progress. Now fully in sync with his Saiyan body, his combat power had reached 210 million, surpassing what Goku had during the Android Saga even before Super Saiyan transformations.
His rapid growth was thanks in part to his latent bloodline that of a high-potential Saiyan warrior and of course, the unique training aids from the system.
"Gohan," Luya said one morning, serious and direct, "I want to train in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber."
Gohan blinked, then nodded. "Let me talk to Piccolo."
After discussing it, Piccolo agreed. With Goku and Vegeta currently off-world and unaware of the approaching danger, Earth needed every advantage it could get.
Luya's desire to enter the Hyperbolic Time Chamber wasn't just for system benefits though it had triggered a time-sensitive mission. He knew from Dragon Ball history that no place accelerated training faster than that chamber.
Later that day, Gohan took Luya to the Lookout, the sacred domain of Kami's successor.
"Long time no see, Gohan!" Dende smiled brightly as he hurried over, wrapping Gohan in a warm hug.
Since Piccolo fused with Kami during the Android Saga, Dende has served as the new Guardian of Earth. By now, Dende has matured into a composed and wise teenager, although he retains his youthful appearance due to Namekian aging traits.
After Gohan and Dende exchanged warm greetings and reflected on past battles, Gohan began introducing Luya.
Dende nodded politely. "I've been monitoring Earth's surface from the Lookout. I sensed Luya's arrival and his energy. I know he bears no hostility toward this planet." He stepped forward and greeted him kindly, "Welcome, Luya. I'm Dende, Earth's current Guardian."
Luya smiled calmly. "Pleasure to meet you, Dende. Your growth is impressive Kami made a wise choice. Among Namekians, your potential in spiritual and support abilities truly shines."
Dende blinked in mild surprise. "Huh…?"
It puzzled him slightly. How could Luya know so much about his history and capabilities? He instinctively glanced at Gohan for clarity.
Gohan simply shrugged, just as perplexed. As far as he remembered, he hadn't mentioned Dende in any detail to Luya.
Luya, unfazed, shifted the conversation smoothly. After some light introductions, he made a formal request: "I'd like to enter the Hyperbolic Time Chamber the Room of Spirit and Time—to train."
Dende nodded with understanding. "Of course. Mr. Popo will escort you."
At that moment, Mr. Popo stepped forward in his usual silent manner and said in a deep, steady voice, "Please follow me."
Luya gave Gohan a quick nod, then followed Popo without hesitation.
Back at the entrance of the Time Chamber, Gohan watched Luya's figure disappear down the corridor. A subtle smile appeared on his face.
"Gohan," Dende asked suddenly, his tone more cautious than before, "Don't you think there's something unusual about Luya?"
Gohan hesitated, then replied, "Maybe. He did say he's a Saiyan from another universe."
Dende's expression turned blank. "And… you believe that?"
Gohan laughed lightly. "It doesn't matter right now. The most important thing is—he's not our enemy. If that changes, I'll stop him myself."
Dende sighed. "I'll trust your judgment. But… if Frieza really has been resurrected, shouldn't we have heard from Goku or Vegeta by now?"
Gohan shook his head grimly. "No. Dad and Vegeta are training with Lord Beerus under Whis' supervision. They're in a separate dimension—there's no way to contact them directly."
Dende looked concerned. "Frieza's new form… even you may not be able to face him alone."
Gohan's voice became serious. "Which is why we all need to train. There's no other choice."
Then Dende offered an idea. "Gohan, can't you enter the Time Chamber too? Even one day inside would be a year's worth of training. With your potential, you could rise dramatically."
Gohan smiled and shook his head. "No… Not yet. I'm not ready to go back into that room."
Dende: "..."
Meanwhile, Luya followed Mr. Popo through the towering halls of the Lookout until they reached the white dome-shaped entrance to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.
Popo turned and explained in his usual composed tone, "Each individual is limited to two full days in this chamber. One day on the outside equals one year inside. The gravity ranges between 10 to 50 times Earth's, and the atmospheric conditions push both the body and mind to the brink. Keep careful track of time. If you stay beyond the limit, the exit will vanish, and you'll be trapped inside permanently."
Luya nodded, feigning understanding while secretly relying on the system's internal timer. "Understood."
Popo pushed open the towering white door and said calmly, "Then step inside."
Luya walked through the threshold without hesitation.
[Ding! Task complete: "Enter the Hyperbolic Time Chamber to Train."]
[Reward: 100 million combat power points!]
[Reward: Highest-Tier Saiyan Talent Unlocked!]
[Reward: Kaio-ken – No Upper Limit Variant Acquired!]
The moment the door closed behind him, Luya's face lit up with satisfaction. Inside the vast white void, he chuckled to himself.
This system was beyond generous its missions were simple, yet the returns were unbelievable. With a single training arc, he could outpace entire sagas of development.
"If this continues," he murmured, fists clenched, "surpassing Goku and Vegeta won't take long."
Then he paused, correcting himself with a grin.
"No, no don't be short-sighted. First… I'll surpass the Gods."
