Chapter 55 - The Crown Prince's Secret Conspiracy

The royal court of Pritampur buzzed with masked civility. Behind silken smiles and flowing robes, daggers danced—figuratively and literally.

Priyanshu, ever cloaked in unbothered grace, lounged lazily in a quiet corner of the palace garden. His ears, however, were sharper than the blades of assassins.

"Brother Adityan, the pride of the imperial family…" Priyanshu mused aloud, swirling a cup of untouched tea. "So much effort… just to fall."

From the shadows emerged Varsha, his spy and a former assassin turned loyal subordinate. Her movements were ghostlike. "My lord," she whispered, kneeling, "the Moonshadow Sect met him last night. They promised a Heaven-Eating Technique in exchange for help infiltrating the capital."

Priyanshu didn't respond immediately. Instead, he studied the koi pond. The fish swam serenely—unaware of the net descending.

"The technique would allow him to absorb other cultivators' cores during battle," she added. "It's demonic… but effective."

He chuckled. "Of course it is. Only fools bargain with the Moonshadow Sect. They always demand a soul in return."

Priyanshu's eyes gleamed. "No need to stop him. Let the dog believe he's found a blade. We'll just make sure the blade points back at him."

Varsha hesitated. "And the Emperor?"

"Still blind, still proud. That suits me."

He stood up, robe fluttering like dark smoke in the breeze. "Tell the Moonshadow Sect emissaries I approve of their ambition. But make sure one of our people joins their inner circle. Feed them half-truths."

Varsha bowed again. "As you wish, my lord. Shall I eliminate the witness who overheard the prince's conversation?"

"No. Reward them. Spread a rumor about the prince's secret lover meeting him at midnight. Let the nobles devour the lie."

At that moment, he noticed a subtle pulse in his spatial ring.

He activated it—and a letter appeared, sealed with dark crimson wax. The symbol of his hidden organization was etched in it: a coiling serpent devouring its tail.

He broke the seal and read:

"Target confirmed in the Moonshadow Sect's envoy group. A Divine Realm elder in disguise. Orders?"

He smiled slowly.

"Let him come. It's been too long since I toyed with gods."

The palace remained quiet. Birds chirped. Flowers bloomed.

And in the heart of it all, the true villain smiled as puppets danced to strings, they could never see.
