Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

Diaz: Night of Flames and a New Purpose

That night, Diaz once again gazed at the open sea and the full moon from his apartment window.

"I want to find that creature. It's the one that made me like this... but if I think about it, if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't have been born, right? So he's my dad? No way, I don't have a dad. I refuse to believe it, really," Diaz muttered.

He sat on the sofa chair facing the window, his mind drifting back to his childhood. He relived the happy days from childhood to adolescence with his mother. He actually felt lonely now, but his determination to find answers about his strange appearance solidified his resolve. He wanted to find a way to heal himself so he could return to his mother's side and go back to the happy times when he was a child.

"Ding... dong," his apartment bell rang. Diaz stood up and walked to the door. He peeked and saw no one in front of the door. He opened it.

"Shoot!" a man yelled in Japanese.

"Tratat!" "Tratat!" "Tratat!"

Three men in black suits without ties fired their machine guns at Diaz, who had just opened the door. Diaz shielded his face with his hands and retreated into the apartment.

"Who are you?!" Diaz yelled in Japanese.

"Die!" a fierce-looking man shouted.

"Tratat!" "Tratat!" "Tratat!"

They continued to shoot at Diaz, who kept covering his face with his arms. Slowly, Diaz removed his bracelet.

"Raaaaah!" Diaz roared.

The men continued to shoot at Diaz. Then Diaz raised both his palms, and a beam of incredibly hot red fire shot out, hitting their machine guns. "Clang!" The men dropped their rifles because their weapons had melted. Then they drew samurai swords from their waists and attacked Diaz. Casually, Diaz parried the swords with his hands and broke them.

"I like playing FPS, but not in real life," Diaz thought to himself.

Seeing their swords broken, the men drew their pistols. Annoyed, before they could shoot, Diaz quickly snatched their pistols. Then he took a breath. His dark, featureless face, except for his eyes, cracked open at the mouth, revealing his bat-like teeth with two sharp fangs.

"Yaaaaaaah!"

Diaz screamed an ultrasonic sound wave from his mouth, causing the three men in front of him to instantly faint. Not long after, two people, a man and a woman, entered Diaz's apartment.

"Hey, what happened?" Diaz asked them both in Japanese.

They explained that Diaz's existence was known by his mother's distant cousin, who wanted to eliminate the future heir to the clan head because she wanted her own child to be the future clan head. So she deliberately got rid of potential heirs, including Diaz. Hearing this, Diaz became worried about his mother's condition.

"Is Mom okay?" Diaz asked, worried.

"She's fine, rest assured, Diaz-sama, no one can touch Izumi-sama," the man said.

"We can guarantee that, but for your safety, we have already purchased another apartment for..."

"No need, I'll stay here. You see, they can't kill me," Diaz said, cutting off the woman.

"But if you don't move, your mother will worry," the woman said.

"Haaah... alright, but in this apartment building again, because they'll definitely search for me elsewhere and won't expect me to stay in the same place," Diaz replied.

"Understood, Diaz-sama," the two replied, bowing.

Then they immediately left Diaz's room so Diaz could rest. Diaz then looked out the window again.

"What a situation, but it's also good entertainment, hehe," Diaz thought to himself, as his boredom vanished and his mood returned, feeling like he was playing an FPS in real life.

Not long after, several people entered the room and carried away the men who had attacked Diaz. After they left, Diaz sat back on the sofa.

"Should I start beating up criminals from now on? Seems fun, hehe. Starting today, I've found a new purpose in my life," Diaz said.

"Ding!" his smartphone rang. He saw his friend with the username 'Corpse' contacting him via a regular message. He opened the message; it was just an invitation to play, but then he looked at his friend's profile picture to find out their real name. But apparently, there was no profile picture, only a name.

"Oh, so his real name is Fani, huh? But why the username 'Corpse,' hahahaha, that's funny... wait, if it's Fani, then it's a girl... whoa," Diaz muttered to himself, smiling.

He immediately replied to the message and entered the game. It turned out that Putih and 'Corpse' were already waiting for him. With renewed joy and enthusiasm, Diaz played with his friends. After hours of playing,

"Wow, we keep winning! Too bad 'Psycho' isn't here," Putih said.

"I just experienced an FPS in real life, hahahahahaha," Diaz replied.

"Whoa, seriously?" Putih asked.

"Yeah, just the usual mafia gunfight..." Diaz replied.

"Are you okay?" Fani asked.

"I'm totally fine! In fact, I feel healthier, and I just found my life's purpose," Diaz said.

"Are you really okay? I'm worried," Fani replied.

"Hmm, do you already know Kalong, Corpse?" Putih asked.

"Ahem... I've exchanged numbers with him," Diaz replied.

"What?! How? I want to too! I just gave my dorm address to 'Psycho' because he's going to stay at my boarding house in Jakarta later," Putih replied.

"Oh, you own a boarding house?" Diaz asked.

"Yeah, why?" Putih asked.

"Me too! I'm also going to Jakarta later," Diaz replied.

"But you're rich," Putih said.

"How do you know I'm rich?" Diaz asked.

"You buy vouchers all the time, and your skins alone must be millions if you count them," Putih replied.

"Oh, it's that obvious, hehehe," Diaz replied.

"Hey, why is 'Corpse' so quiet?" Putih asked.

"I don't know, maybe she's AFK again," Diaz replied.

"Alright, let's exchange numbers tomorrow. I'm sleepy," Putih replied.

"Okay, okay, save a room for me, alright?" Diaz replied.

"Sure thing! Double payment, you're rich, hahahaha," Putih replied.

"You're annoying! Anyway, that's easy to deal with," Diaz replied.

"Awesome! The boss is truly great!" Putih replied.

"Didn't you say you wanted to sleep?" Diaz replied.

"Oh, right, I forgot! Alright, bye-bye!" Putih replied.

Waiting for Fani to speak again, Diaz sent a message then logged off. After that, he walked to his bed and lay down.

"Watch out, criminals... I'm coming, no one will escape. Otherwise, don't call me Kalong, hehehe," Diaz muttered to himself with a wide grin.

From that night on, Diaz began to fight and apprehend criminals causing trouble in the city, then handed them over to the police. His actions were sometimes captured by surveillance cameras or accidentally recorded by smartphones. This made him go viral on social media, and like others, he also earned a nickname: The Devil, because he truly looked like a demon when recorded.
