Chapter 1 - Detective Nixon

There's a chill in the air on a still silent night. A clear sky and a full moon illuminates the downtown streets. A woman dressed in black walks down the empty sidewalk and into an alley next to a Jeweler store that has closed for the day.

As silent as the night, the woman manages to sneak in. She tiptoes around a few showcases eyeing every one of them with lust. She expertly but casually sneaks around the Jeweler store until she reaches a vault at the very back of the building. She gently puts a glove covered hand on the vault door and remains calm and very still. Then she places a device on the door which unlocks it and pushes it open.

Inside the vault, the walls and ceiling are covered with black cloth with a texture similar to a rug. The walls are lined with cabinets and at the very back is a display case with all sorts of very valuable Jewelry placed inside.

The woman looks around as she walks towards the display case, not interested in anything else in the room besides one gem that rests in the center of the display case. Once she reaches the display case, she pulls out a key from her pocket and puts it in the lock that sits at the very bottom of the front glass panel. She turns the key which makes no sound and the lifts open the glass giving her access to all of the Jewelry and valuable items that lay inside. She quickly but carefully grabs the gem in the center of the display case and replaces it with a fake that looks almost identical. Then she closes the case very carefully and walks out of the vault.

The woman now climbs onto the roof of the Jewelry store leaving no trace that she was even there. As she begins to relax and walk across the rooftop she hears a man's voice and freezes.

"I gotta hand it to ya, to be able to have the police not lay a single finger on you is very impressive." says the man casually.

The woman's face goes pale. She puts the gem in her pocket and turns around acting like nothing happened. "And who might you be?"

The man stands in the corner of the rooftop with his arms crossed and replies "Hank Nixon, Private Detective. Might I ask how you do it?"

The woman replies while slowly backing up. "Do what?"

Hank answers back while taking notice of the woman's actions. "You know, prance inside a well guarded vault and come out with hardly a trace."

The woman replies with a deceiving manner. "If you're an admirer, my suggestion is to practice and over the years you'll get as good as me."

Hank replies "Ah but I could say I have more skill than you and yet you started before me."

The woman stops in her tracks just before she reaches the end of the building. "How do you know when I started?"

Hank replies with a small hint of rushing his words. "That's not important right now, what's important is for you to take a second and not rush your escape or you could slip up and ruin your perfect record."

The woman's eyes widen and her expression reveals its true self as fear. She quickly turns back around and jumps to the next rooftop where she lands and slips. Before she could fall on her back, a man catches her.

"Well hello there, in a hurry to escape are you?"

The man seems to be the Detective's assistant. The woman punches the man in the face making him reel back in pain and drop her to grab his face. The woman catches herself from hitting the ground and cartwheels backwards. At this point, Hank jumps to the rooftop after the woman and then gets kicked off the roof into the alleyway dumpster by the woman. In a panic, the woman climbs off the rooftop quickly to get to the road but as she hits the ground, she's stopped by a bunch of police.

"Sarah Reeds, you're under arrest." yells out one of the police.

Shortly after, Hank limps out of the alleyway with his arm around his assistant for support. Both of the men have minor injuries, Hank who seems ok other than him holding his side and his assistant who has a nice cut on his nose and a bruise around it. One of the officer's notices them and comments on their appearance.

"Detective Nixon, just as graceful as ever I see."

Hank looks at the officer and replies with a bit of sarcasm in his voice "Perfect timing gentlemen, I was just wrapping things up."
