The cashier, sweating behind the counter, whispered, "Dear Kami... they're siblings?"
Around them, other customers kept a safe distance. Two bystanders began taking bets. One person began livestreaming.
Yumi launched a flying kick. Yuto countered with a spin-slap of justice.
Volume 99 tumbled into the air like an artifact of destiny.
They both leapt for it, at the same time.

The sliding glass doors flew open.
Riku, late on a double-assigned soul run, skidded into the parking lot.
"Outta the way! Soul pickup!"
The twins hit the pavement mid-air. So did Volume 99.
Riku's truck glowed. The floor cracked. There was a glorious, anime-slow-mo BOOM.
Two souls spiraled upward in twin trails of sparkles, rage, and unresolved fanfiction.
Riku sat with his hands over his face. The twins hovered in matching translucent forms, arms crossed, arguing midair.
"I should've gotten the book—""No, I should've—""You knocked over that whole merch stand—""You elbowed a child!"
"STOP," Riku snapped. "You both died. Over manga. I'm filing this under 'Otaku Tragedy – Type D.'"
"YOU ran us over," Yuto pointed out.
"Simultaneously," added Yumi. "That's like... soul manslaughter."
"You leapt into traffic fighting over limited-edition content."
"IT WAS A HOLOGRAPHIC PRINT!"

Riku screamed into a nearby pillow.
