Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

I feel sleepy.

No—lethargic.

But I know that if I succumb, I'll never wake up again.

It takes all my willpower to endure.

Sigh...

I should've offered up my consciousness during the ritual too.

But something tells me it wouldn't have worked. My **Dao of Self-Restriction**, even after sacrificing almost everything, still worked overtime just to summon those otherworlders.

And even then, I didn't summon their whole beings — only a **fragment** of their souls.

A miscalculation on my part.

But a **boon** nonetheless.

They can die freely.

They respawn.

**The cost is mine.**

Every time they die, it's like a dagger twisting in my soul.

My stomach churns.

Their bodies are made of pure Yang from the sun and Yin from the moon. A perfect balance.

It's fortunate that that being hasn't figured it out yet.

Still an eldritch entity, no matter how smart.

Different systems. They use **Madness** and **Perception**.

We use **Dao** and **Cultivation**.

The only reason we lost?

**Infighting.**

All the powerhouses—

No, all the **unorthodox and demonic sects**—succumbed to temptation.

Only me, the Grand Elder of the Righteous Sect, remained.

Having mastered the **[Star Soul Sutra]**, I was the only one who immediately recognized and dispelled the poison.

But it was too late.

The war had already begun.

Sects turned on each other.

To what end?

The **scattering of the world.**

When a cultivator reaches the Immortal Realm, their power is like a **dying star**.

Now imagine poisoning them—without sound, scent, or form—with something that **boosts greed**.

Now imagine **nine** of them fighting.

Each punch echoes across **galactic distances**.

Each technique rends reality.

It wasn't even a war.

It was **1 vs 8**.

And to stop it, I offered everything—

My **body**, my **Qi**, my **soul**—to hold the galaxy together.

Fortunately, the **[Star Soul Sutra]** always required my soul to be out of my body.

It's astral projection, but with a cooler name.

It lets me do pure soul damage, too.

**OP, right? Hehe.**

But now, I'm nothing but a **spectator**.

---

The first summoning?

Shocking.

I never thought I'd see the day I became a **game developer**.

Not a good one—

But one nonetheless.

How the universe built a DreamVR device to distribute to these players is **beyond me**.

But summoning **PRETENDER**?

Inner fangirl squealing intensifies.

Still... I need to guide them. Otherwise, they'll just get swallowed by the remnants of our fallen world.

Ugh... even sending **short messages** hurts like someone sucker-punched me in the gut.

But it should be enough, right?

They're gamers. They'll figure it out.

Eh?

**Why are you looting someone's kitchen?**

EH!?

**DON'T THROW A PERPETUAL FIRE TALISMAN LIKE A GRENADE, YOU IDIOT—**

Warning Reources will not regenerate please use them wisely

===

Ugh… the pain…

Calm down.

At least I can **send messages**.

They're a good breed.

They just need **guidance**.

I've raised **over a thousand disciples**.

I know how to do this.

I am the bone of my lesson plan.

Qi is my body, and knowledge is my soul

I have survived over a thousand disciples.

Unknown to rest, nor known to retreat.

Have withstood centuries of ignorance to shape understanding.

Yet these students still do not read the manual.

Kick their asses, **PRETENDER!**

Glances to the side.

...

Someone's playing a **whole different game**.

Yep.

Totally didn't just see a **mindless puppet get flung across the battlefield by a dining table**.

Nope.

For my own sanity, I saw nothing.

EH?! WHAT IS THAT!?

Why is there **still a cultivator**!?

Oh no.

F@#k—

They're **not ready** for this.

Umm... what do I do… what do I—

What the f@#k—

**Why is a naked man...**

You know what?

**You do you.**

Yeah.

I totally didn't just see a naked man awakening his **Dao** while fighting a **corrupted cultivator** I completely missed in my final days.

Totally.

No excuses.

...

Okay, maybe I mistook him for a random mortal turned puppet. His Qi was that low.

...

I failed them, huh?

**Mortals I was supposed to protect, turned to puppets—right before my eyes.**

Some Grand Elder I am.

---

Right.

**Next step:** teach them **cultivation**.

...

How should I start?

Ah yes.

The **rule of three**. Always absolute.

There must always be:

1. An **Orthodox Sect**

2. An **Unorthodox Sect**

3. A **Demonic Sect**

Don't ask me why. I would know.

You think I didn't try unifying everything under one banner?

A **millennia of effort**.

Undone in **seconds** by the Dao itself.

So… better to have a **reasonable rival sect** than a **wildcard demonic one**.

As I sigh, I pray—
