Crap. I totally forgot about my monthly report to Bezel's evil best friend. That demonic beast sent me a message reminder, asking if I was up to anything suspicious that I would forget to send him a report.

With the fuss that happened today, I totally forgot about it. It's done now. He should enjoy reading how miserable and pitiful I was with a broken air conditioner during this period of time, while I was also in and out of hospital, had lost so many jobs and was worried about how I was going to pay for everything. I didn't put in today's events in because I hadn't finished processing it yet. I'm sure Bezel would be happy to hear about my stress. I wondered if they would tell my parents and whether my parents would want to come and visit.

Despite yesterday's events, the doctors felt confident that I would be safe to recover at home. But only with the premise that a nurse would check in on me every two days, since the doctor no longer trusted either one of my bosses. That was fine. As long as I could go home.

I was meant to wait for someone to come and pick me up, but after the nurse had left me in the waiting area, I decided to take public transport home myself. Unfortunately, when I got to my apartment door, I realised that while Stony Boss had brought me my purse in my handbag, he hadn't brought me my apartment keys. And so I was stuck outside my apartment door, unable to go in or go home. I didn't want to call Stony Boss either.

I sat on the bench outside the apartment building for a while because it was the only place with a seat and then began rummaging through my bag, just in case. Lo and behold, after an hour of sitting and ruminating, I found my apartment keys inside the zip pocket of my handbag. I knew they had to be in there somewhere.

When I entered the apartment building, I felt someone rudely push past me through the doors. The chubby man in an oversized hoodie t-shirt with the hood up was reeling and reeking of cheap alcohol. He paused to stare at the notice board. I walked past him toward the elevator and grimaced when he followed me in, seeming to ignore me when I jabbed my floor number. He was presumably going to the same floor, although I didn't recognise him.

The security in this place wasn't very good. Just about anybody could walk into the building and to your door. Unlike the more upmarket apartments that had a concierge and security guards downstairs, required a fob key just to get into the building and the fob key to make the elevator move.

After reaching my floor, the fat man in a t-shirt hoodie followed me out, but turned to walk in the opposite direction from the direction I turned in. Glancing at his figure and the oversized t-shirt hoodie that didn't hide his beer belly, I wasn't sure why, but I paused. He looked vaguely familiar. Where had I seen him before?

I was just unlocking my apartment door when a heavy figure barrelled in, pushing me in so that I fell to the floor. My mobile phone began ringing but I didn't have the time to deal with it. He shut the door behind him and I looked up into the face that had been hidden beneath the hood.

"Boss?"

It was my old direct line boss. The one who had been fired and should technically be in prison right now. What was he doing here?

"You ruined my life," he roared, lunging at me while I scrambled away, leaving my ringing mobile phone and handbag where it had fallen. "How could you?"

I scrambled away and he, unable to stop himself, slammed into a wall, knocking over the shoe rack. He stumbled and tripped on a few fallen shoes while I dodged into the relatively hidden space behind the long kitchen bench. The man kicked and threw a few old shoes around the place, pulling one old one apart completely with his bare hands while he roared curses at me above the sound of my ringing mobile, calling me names and wailing that it was all my fault.

I watched as he threw himself at the furry figure of Captain Hank Ted on the couch. He assaulted Captain Hank Ted, throttling him.

In the next moment, he was vomiting and rubbing up against my giant teddy, making me shiver with disgust. Captain Hank Ted had been dirtied and defiled by this fat drunkard. I would never be able to look at him in the same way again. In fact, he would have to go into the bin. Especially with the way the fat pig was slobbering all over him.

"Miss Brown, you have amazing daytime makeup skills. Who would have known that in private, you're actually so soft and covered with fluffy brown fur?"

Carefully, I crept out from behind the kitchen bench while the undressing drunkard was both throttling and making out with my giant teddy. I felt like throwing up. Grabbing my handbag that still had everything in it, I quietly escaped out the front door of my apartment into the corridor.

I stood outside the door for a while, feeling somewhat at a loss for what to do. Should I call the police? Or should I call somebody from work? How was I meant to deal with a crazy drunk man who had been my boss but was now a criminal? He had attacked me at first but hadn't really harmed me. Only my giant teddy bear.

The elevator doors opened and a tall, muscly body with a familiar fragrance rushed over to envelop me in crushing, strong arms.

I shrieked and pushed him away, stumbling against the wall, clutching my chest, my head and then sinking to the floor.

"Stay away from me! Don't touch me!"

"Jane, I'm sorry," Stony Boss took a surprised step back, seeing me holding out a trembling arm out to stop him from getting any closer. "Jane, what's wrong? Why are you so scared? What happened? Why aren't you answering your phone? I thought something happened to you."

I had been fine earlier, but his surprise attack from behind had unnerved me. I couldn't talk. I just took a few deep breaths and pointed at my apartment door with a shaking finger.

"There's someone in there?" Stony Boss asked cautiously after a long moment.

I nodded and his eyes hardened.

He cautiously opened the door and peered in, freezing for a moment.

"Oh," he said and closed the door, glancing at me. "Oh. I'm so sorry. I'll make sure you get compensated for this."

He crouched down as if to try and reassure me or give him a hug but I pushed him away.

"Don't touch me," I growled at him. "Leave me alone."

"Alright. You just keep breathing and calming down. Give me a moment. I'll call for help."

Stony Boss made a series of phone calls.

There was the sound of breaking and smashing things from inside my apartment, complete with drunken laughter.

THE biggest boss of all and a few other big bosses soon arrived. They peered inside my apartment and shook their heads at each other.

"Call the police. We can't deal with that."

"Get the paramedics over to check on Jane as well. She's not looking good."

A lady boss covered my shoulders with her light jacket and coaxed me into a more comfortable position, encouraging me to lean against her, while she put an arm around my shoulders and patted my arm. She coaxed the story of what happened out of me

When the police arrived, they had me repeat what I had told the lady boss, but with a little more detail. After that, the paramedics came over to check on me and bring me back to the hospital that I had just escaped. In the emergency ward, they checked more thoroughly and then discharged me, encouraging me to go home and rest. The lady boss drove me somewhere and helped me stumbling into a familiar building. It took a while for me to realise why it was familiar. It was the house where Stony Boss and the THE biggest boss of all lived and I hadn't wanted to return to.

She helped me undress, encouraged me to go shower and helped me pick out some comfortable clothes to sleep in from the wardrobe stuffed full of new clothes. After making sure I ate something, she sat by my bed side to keep me company, holding my trembling hand until I fell asleep.

When I woke up later in the night with a jump, after hearing the front door slam shut, I figured the men had come home after I had reoriented myself. They peered in on me and seeing me writing in my journal, bade me 'goodnight', while I had nodded at them but not spoken to them.
