"I am nothing like my father!" Nikolas roared, his breath ragged.
If someone had said this to him a few years ago, he would have had a wide smile on his face and would have willingly accepted it as a compliment.
He had always admired his father, and had once seen it as an honor to be the head, so he had always longed to be just like him. But that had all been a lie. His father was a disgustingly weak man, who had no self-control and was pathetic enough to sleep with his own brother's wife without sparing even for a second to think about the consequences and his family.
There was no way in hell he was anything like that man.
"Don't you ever say that, Austin," Nikolas snapped, taking two sharp steps toward him. He wasn't going to let Austin barge into his office, throw insults at him, and fabricate lies like he was performing for an audience.
"Shit!" he cursed under his breath angrily. It was like deception ran in their bloodline and sickened him to the bone.
