Chapter 16 - explanation

A couple of minutes later, Dante finally entered his room. He dropped himself onto his bed with a heavy sigh, his mind still racing from everything that had happened. After a second, he lifted his head and looked over at Ray, who hovered quietly nearby.

"So," Dante said, breaking the silence, "now that we finally have some free time… I think it's time for us to talk."

Ray tilted slightly, almost curiously. "Talk about what exactly?"

"Talk about everything," Dante replied firmly. "How my powers actually work. Why you're a sword. Why I kept my appearance when, technically, the only reason I even looked like… well, this," he gestured vaguely at himself, "was because of the left arm. And—" he leaned forward, squinting, "—why the hell you stabbed me with Rebellion back then."

Ray let out a light chuckle. "Well… I suggest you get comfortable.

This might take a while."

Dante groaned and leaned back onto the bed, waving for him to start. "Alright, hit me."

"First off," Ray began, "the reason I stabbed you with Rebellion was because of its unique power."

"Unique power?" Dante raised an eyebrow. "What's that supposed to mean?

I've been using Rebellion for over a week and a half now, and other than it being a crazy strong sword with insane cutting ability—or at least, that's what I thought—I didn't notice anything special."

Ray floated a little closer. "That's because you were only scratching the surface. Rebellion is, by default, unbelievably durable—stronger than adamantium itself.

Normally, even if it were somehow broken, it could easily be repaired by Guy because he was its master. And… because of that same bond, it was also easy for him to destroy it when you fought him."

Dante frowned at that, but didn't interrupt.

"But more importantly," Ray continued, "Rebellion has a hidden, unique ability called Fusion. It can combine things together—merge them—as long as it stabs them."

Dante sat up a little. "Wait, wait. So what exactly did you infuse into me?"

Ray's voice was calm but serious. "Three things.

First, demonic power. That's why you still have it. That's why you're still able to use those abilities even though the arm is gone."

Dante nodded slowly, piecing it together.

"Second," Ray added, "me.

I'm a servant demon. Normally, I'm free to choose my own master… but Guy forcefully enslaved me under his control. The only way for me to break that bond was to find a true master—and he made sure I couldn't use that ability while under his command."

Dante's eyebrows furrowed. "But…?"

"But I found a loophole," Ray said with a grin. "I used Rebellion's fusion ability as a medium. It let me mark you as my true master during the infusion, freeing me from him completely."

Dante leaned back, absorbing it all.

"And because I'm a servant demon—specifically a weapon-type—I'm stuck in the form of a weapon. Like the sword you're using now."

Dante whistled low. "Damn."

"And the third thing," Ray finished, "was the remnants of the Flames of Life."

Dante blinked. "Wait—the weak version that Guy used to hit me with? The ones meant to slowly kill me?"

Ray nodded. "Exactly.

When I infused you, those dying embers got pulled in too. They're not a full version of the Flames of Life, but they're there… flickering inside you."

What does that exactly supposed to mean?" Dante asked, narrowing his eyes.

"Do I still have the Flames of Life?" he asked again, needing a clear answer.

"No," Ray said simply. "You can't use the flames anymore. What you have left are just embers. They don't give you the power of the flames anymore — all they do now is keep your current appearance."

Dante sighed in relief at least partially.

"Well, not exactly," Ray added.

Dante frowned. "What does that mean?"

Ray continued calmly.

"The embers are weak, but they still exist inside you. You can't summon the Flames of Life or anything like that. But you can use the embers in small ways.

The way your power work Is simple you already know you can make skills but you can make only two types of skills physical and construct skills

You might be able to create skills with them.

For example, you could make a skill that lets you sense life around you, like a detection ability.

Or maybe mix the embers with your construct skills to create something new."

Dante nodded slowly, listening carefully.

"One important thing though," Ray said seriously.

Because you only have embers now, your full immunity to psychic powers is gone. It's just resistance now. Strong telepaths might still be able to get to you if you're not careful."

Dante let out a small breath.

"Alright. I'll keep that in mind."

He looked at Ray again.

"Tell me, how does Rebellion's fusion ability really work?" he asked.

"Well," Ray said, "outside of what we did during the last fight, it's not very practical. You can only use Rebellion's fusion ability once per target. After that, you can't use it again on them.

So don't expect to fuse stuff all the time."

"I figured," Dante muttered.

"And about you?" Dante asked, pointing to Ray's sword form.

"You said you have a power as a sword, right?"

Ray responded, "Yeah. I have electricity running through me. When you use me, you can channel that electricity through your strikes. Basically, you have a lightning sword now."

Dante's eyes widened slightly.

"Seriously?" he asked.

Ray confirmed, "Yeah. And you can also mix electricity into your skills.

Like throwing lightning punches or shooting lightning bullets."

"And there's one more thing," Ray added.

"Since you're my master, we have a psychic link now. You and I can talk directly through our minds if we want."

Dante stood up from the bed, stretching his arms. So a lightning sword… that's not bad at all."

He grabbed Ray's sword form and slung it over his back.

"Where are we going?" Ray asked.

"We're going to train a little," Dante said casually, "and then… I need to do something important."

Three hours later, at the lunch hall

The cafeteria was packed.

Students were sitting everywhere, laughing, chatting, and eating.

Suddenly, the atmosphere changed.

Everyone turned their heads when the doors opened.

It was Dante, walking in casually.

But something was different.

He looked even better than before — like something out of a movie. His hair was a perfect white, his body sharper, stronger, and the confident way he moved made a lot of the girls blush immediately.

Some of the guys glared at him in jealousy, others just stared in disbelief.

Quentin Quire scowled from across the room, clearly annoyed.

Through the link, Ray spoke inside Dante's head. We should probably not let Quentin know about you Losing psychic Immunity."

"Yeah, I got that part," Dante replied without looking at him.

"Dude!" Owen yelled out from a nearby table, waving his arms. What the hell happened to you?! You look better than before, which I didn't know was possible!"

Dante chuckled, walking toward him.

"I'll explain later," he said casually.

But Dante wasn't here to chat.

He turned his head toward Kid Gladiator, who was leaning against the wall, arms crossed and looking as confident as ever.

Dante pointed directly at him.

"It's time," he said simply.

Kid Gladiator's eyes lit up.

Finally.

Without hesitation, Kid Gladiator pushed off the wall, his grin wide and wild.

The students all sensed it.

A serious fight was about to start.

Everyone immediately started whispering, backing up and giving them space.

Dante just cracked his neck, a small smirk forming.

He had been waiting for this too.

(Yes, rebellion durability is stronger than adamantium but not by a lot)
