Chapter 43 – The Lucky Savage Girl
"Really... no problem?"
On the wooden board tied with climbing plants, there was more than half of a python and a leopard. Utaha thought everything weighed at least 200 kilograms, but Jun said he could drag it all alone to the riverbank.
"No problem."
Jun held the climbing plant tightly, tied to the wooden board. He took a deep breath, then the muscles in his arms tensed, and veins appeared on his hands.
Krkkhhh…
The wooden board slowly started to move on the grass.
"Huff..."
It was so heavy!
Jun used all his strength to make the board move slowly. But he quickly ran out of stamina and sanity.
Things couldn't go on like this. Even if he used all his energy to drag the python and leopard meat to the river, he would surely go crazy before he could reach the river.
"Are you okay?"
Utaha was surprised that Jun was able to pull such a heavy board by himself.
Jun-kun is very strong.
"I'm doing well. But it feels a bit forced. It seems we have to add round wooden sticks under the board. This will reduce friction and start forming the frame of the raft.
Cylindrical objects have much smaller contact area compared to square-shaped wooden boards.
This greatly reduces the friction between the frame and the ground.
After working for a while, Jun and Utaha finally put a layer of sticks under the board.
When they get to the river later, they will put the sticks together to make a raft.
"It's much lighter..."
Jun used the board again, and this time, he didn't run out of stamina or sanity so quickly. But to quickly return to camp, he immediately used his first skill.
"Let's go home!"
Jun held the rope tightly—it was tied to the wooden board—and pulled it with all his might towards the river.
"I can help too, Jun-kun!"
Utaha also pulled the rope together, even though she was almost out of energy.

"Ula-la..."
This is the camp of the Savage Human tribe.
Now, in the human-eating tribe, only two wild humans remain.
The tribe chief sadly realized that his right arm was paralyzed.
Maybe the bone was crushed because of the python's earlier bite...
He shook his right arm, which was bent the wrong way.
It hurt, but the pain slowly went away. His right arm started to feel numb.
"Ula!"
The savage tribe chief called his helper.
"Ula..."
The only remaining subordinate is also in poor mental health.
He also realized that now only he and the chief remained.
It looked like the chief was also badly hurt.
"Where is that girl!?"
The savage tribe chief realized that only they two were left in the camp.
"N-not found..."
His subordinate did not know where the wild girl had gone.
Maybe earlier, when everyone was busy fighting the python, she quietly freed herself and escaped.
"Find her quickly!"
The savage tribe chief grimaced in pain while shouting to the only remaining subordinate.
"Okay..."
The wild man hesitated, then nodded and took a long stick to follow the girl.
"Wait!"
The tribe chief had a hard time standing up with just one arm.
"I'll come too. This time, we have to catch her again!"
Even though he had lost an arm, the savage chief's eyes still looked crazier.
— — —
Actually, the savage girl had not run away yet. She took advantage of the chaos and hid behind a tree trunk. She climbed up the tree.
She didn't move at all.
Below the tree, not far from her, were the python, savage humans, and leopard—all of which could kill her in an instant.
She could only curl up and pray quietly, hoping the creatures below didn't notice her.
It was like the prayer was answered by the heavens.
Even when Jun appeared last, he did not notice the savage girl.
He thought all the savage humans had run away.
"Ula..."
The wild girl watched as Jun killed the leopard with one arrow, then used a strange tool to cut open the python's belly.
That's so scary. What tribe is he from?
The savage girl had never seen a human like Jun and the others.
But there's something special about that wall painting.
Yes, the wall painting!
The wild girl remembered the painting on the wall she had seen in a cave she didn't know.
Only the people in that painting ever looked this strange.
| Notes: It's like a painting or mural |
"Ula..."
Such a strong human being...
The savage girl saw with her own eyes when Jun moved the dead python onto the wooden board.
Even the dead leopard was easily lifted by that man.
The most surprising thing was that this man was able to drag those two huge animals on his own.
Even the strongest tribe chief from the Dragon Back Tribe wouldn't be able to do that.
The wild girl looked at Jun and Utaha with a mixture of admiration and fear. They slowly disappeared behind the trees.
The savage girl climbed down from the tree after making sure that both were gone. She sighed with relief.
What good luck! She once again escaped from the dangerous tribe.
Jun left behind many pieces of meat from the nearby pythons and leopards.
The insides, head, and tail, and some parts that looked like they weren't safe to eat, were thrown away without care.
But for the wild girl who was used to surviving in the jungle, all of that was delicious and very valuable food.
The leopard's tail is especially important.
Snake meat is too dirty. She didn't want to touch it.
But the remains of the leopard—all of it was treasure...
With a soft voice, she happily shouted, then ran towards the pile of dead bodies that smelled like fish and rotten.
After picking some pieces of meat that were still good to eat and easy to carry, the wild girl happily walked deeper into the forest.

"Oh, Katō-kun and Kasumigaoka-senpai have returned by boat!"
While collecting seaweed at the beach, Yuigahama Yui saw a raft in the distance.
Utaha waved her hand from the raft.
"They're back already?"
Ginko, who was also picking seaweed, looked over from the sand.
"Senpai!"
She also waved her hand toward the raft.
"Yuigahama-san, this time there's your favorite snake meat!" Jun shouted as he jumped from the raft into the shallow water. Then, like he always did, he helped pull the raft in with Utaha.
"Really?"
Yui looked at the wooden board on the raft.
The snake meat on this island looked like soft white jelly, for some strange reason.
It's no wonder it tastes so delicious when cooked.
| Notes: Don't try this in real life! There are many parasites and viruses! |
"There's so much meat... But... the smell..."
Ginko wanted to hug Jun, but she stopped because Jun smelled bad.
"Sorry, sorry! I'll take a bath right away!"
Jun pulled the board from the raft and brought it to the camp. Then he took off his clothes and ran toward the sea.
The seawater here was very clean, but to maintain skin health, they still had to rinse again with fresh water from the river after bathing in salty water.
Unfortunately, the camp was far from the river, so they had to be careful with the fresh water.
"This snake meat is too much..."
Yukino and Megumi looked upset when they saw the pile of snake meat that Jun and Utaha had brought.
Even the wild boar meat took a long time to eat.
With this amount, it seemed they had to smoke most of the meat again.
With six people, they could finish ten kilos of meat per day, but most of that was eaten by Jun himself.
There was more than 100 kilograms of meat. Just looking at it made my head hurt.
And this leopard... probably the last time, right?
Yukino felt like she had seen the fur before.
"Oh...senpai is naked again...and running around..."
Ginko covered half her face while complaining, seeing Jun only wearing shorts.
Because of this, it became difficult for her to gather seaweed again.
— — —
"Tomorrow we can leave right away."
After dinner, Jun and the girls sat in a circle around the campfire. They talked about what they would do the next day.
"Was it finished in one day?"
Jun looked at the baskets next to the wooden hut.
These girls were so good at their jobs.
"Mm. We also already wove many ropes from trees."
Megumi sat next to her sister, hugging her knees.
"Yukino's hands are really skilled, and that's all thanks to her."
Today, Yukinoshita Yukino tried to make a ladder out of a tree.
According to Megumi's story, the glowing tree they found was about twenty meters tall. It was impossible to climb it the usual way.
They could only hope that the rattan ladder would be useful later.
"Not just that... Megumi helped a lot, and so did Sora-san and Yuigahama-san..."
"Ugh... I'm so full... Yukinon... hehehe... Katō-kun..."
Yui, who had been sleeping next to Yukino, now only said a few words, her smile looking silly and weak.
Her sleeping position was really inappropriate.
"She fell asleep so fast... and she didn't pull her skirt down first..."
Yukino let out a sigh, feeling a bit annoyed, and then fixed Yui's mini skirt, which had lifted up over her butt.
Then, as if she sensed danger, she quickly looked at Jun, who was sitting across from her.
Jun quickly looked away.
From his perspective, Yui and Utaha's bodies looked pretty similar.
Their chests and hips were equally round.
"Ahem... if so, we'll start moving the stuff tomorrow, okay?"
That made Yukino raise her eyebrows, and Ginko immediately stepped on Jun's foot next to her.
Jun stopped talking for a moment because the sole of her shoe felt soft.
Right now, they were both barefoot.
He really wanted to touch it directly.
Jun felt a mix of pain and pleasure from Ginko's soft steps.
"But, there's one important thing I have to tell you."
Jun looked at Utaha and his younger classmate, Ginko.
"Today, Utaha-senpai and I found evidence of wild humans in the forest..."
He tried to sound cheerful.
"Savage humans?!"
Yukino was clearly shocked when she heard that word again.
"Yes, they probably went back to their main camp after a big bear attacked them."
Jun spread a map on the sand and showed the location where they thought the savage tribe camp was.
He didn't know that now only two of them remained.
Who would have thought that those wild people would not only come across a bear, but also a huge ancient snake?
"Savage humans..."
Ginko looked scared. She immediately hugged Jun's arm, and then wrapped her legs around his.
Even though it looked spoiled, it seemed to be looking for safety.
"Don't worry. I'm here. Also, our route to the new camp will not go through their territory."
Jun drew a line on the map to show a path that would take them around the dangerous area.
"We could go through the river, but I think there's a waterfall upstream..."
He also saw a crocodile sunbathing on the riverbank when he paddled the raft that afternoon.
Its size was much bigger than a normal crocodile.
It's about the size of a small car.
But Jun didn't tell Utaha. He just sped up his paddling while glancing at the crocodile several times.
With that size, just one collision could turn the raft over.
"So, the land route is still the safest."
He had also traveled the forest route many times. He was quite familiar with the area.
"If that's the case, we'll leave tomorrow."
Utaha nodded slowly. She also felt this beach camp was too open… and unsafe.
"I agree."
Yukino also nodded.
"Tomorrow, Yukino, Yuigahama-san, and I will move some things to the new location first, okay?"
"Okay."
Yukino then woke up the already asleep Yui. She told Yui about the plan for tomorrow.
"Oh..."
Yui replied with her eyes still closed and then fell asleep again.
"..."
Yukino finally just sighed and dragged Yui into the hut.
— — —
"If so, Senpai… since savage humans appeared again, please be careful tomorrow, okay."
"I know…"
Jun stroked Ginko's hair who was now sleeping on his lap.
Unlike Yui, Ginko slept very peacefully. She resembled Megumi in this regard.
"Tomorrow let Ginko work more… it will be good for her development too."
From Jun's observation, among everyone, Ginko had the lowest stats.
Yui was almost at the threshold to unlock her first skill.
While Ginko… was still far.
"Is this… also related to the 'something' that Onii-chan knows?"
Megumi was quite sharp reading what her brother meant.
"Yes."
Jun confirmed.
"What are you talking about?"
Utaha didn't understand what the two siblings were discussing.
"On this island… we can all obtain skills or abilities."
After thinking for a moment, Jun decided to explain everything.
"Skills?"
As a light novel writer, Utaha was quite flexible in accepting such things.
"Not… fiction, right?"
"Of course not. This is real, and really embedded in us. For example… Megumi, she can identify all kinds of plants on this island."
Jun then pointed at Utaha.
"You have one too, Utaha-senpai. Your skill is… making animals temporarily paralyzed with music."
"I have one too?!"
Utaha was stunned.
"Wait… you mean… the pigeon that fell from the tree and died—because of me?"
"Correct."
Jun nodded.
