The scroll glowed like a small sun in Dax's hands, its silver fire dancing wildly in the night air. The entire pack stood frozen around the bonfire, shadows flickering across their stunned faces.
"Give it here," Elder Vaughn said, stepping forward.
Dax handed it over without a word. The weight of the prophecy was already pressing on everyone's shoulders. Vaughn held it up, his hands trembling slightly.
Aria's heart thudded in her chest. She felt every pair of eyes flick to her; Kael, Ren, Dax… all of them. The firelight caught in their eyes, and none of them blinked.
Vaughn cleared his throat and began to read.
