"What's wrong, big sis Bronya~?" Seele's dark half, Black Seele, purred flirtatiously, making Bronya's head ache. She was completely helpless when Seele acted like this.
"Alright, now's not the time for this," Bronya sighed. "Let's wait until the battle is over—then I'll give you your reward."
"Deal~ Then tonight, I want to sleep with you, Bronya sis. Is that okay?" Black Seele teased.
"F-Fine!" Bronya replied, feeling a strange sense of shame creep up on her.
Meanwhile, Kevin stood holding the Judgment of Shamash, coldly gazing at the kneeling Fifth Herrscher—Herrscher of Ice.
The Herrscher of Ice wielded the terrifying ability to freeze anything, even stopping time for a few seconds when at full power. On paper, it was an invincible power.
However, Kevin's Judgment of Shamash burned with divine fire that completely countered the Herrscher's freezing ability. The overwhelming flames nullified the ice, weakening the Herrscher to the point that resistance was meaningless.
"It's over," Kevin said coldly, raising his weapon and slashing down.
A wall of flame surged forth, engulfing both of them. Any nearby Honkai beasts were instantly turned to ash by the sheer heat before they could even approach.
As the flames died down, Kevin emerged silently, still gripping Judgment of Shamash. The Herrscher of Ice was gone—without a trace, not even ash left behind.
The war raged on.
Titan-class mechs and Honkai beasts clashed violently. Artillery rained from the heavens, explosions deafened the battlefield, and blood and fire turned everything crimson.
Dozens of Emperor-class Honkai beasts were held at bay by Valkyries of the Immortal Blades, while anti-entropy mechs provided long-range fire support. The beasts howled and surged forward again and again, only to be pushed back every time.
Durandal led the Immortal Blades in their assault. In her hands, the Sixth Divine Key—Black Abyss White Flower—blossomed into deadly energy that shredded even the Emperor-class beasts. Wherever she struck, death bloomed; wherever she walked, life withered.
"Lady Durandal, you're incredible as always," Rita said with a calm smile beside her.
"These beasts are nothing. No matter how many there are, they're still trash," Durandal replied coldly, plunging her weapon into the chest of a roaring Honkai beast and draining what little life it had left.
"But ants, when numerous, are still tiring to swat. Shall we rest a bit?" Rita asked sweetly.
"No need. This battle won't last much longer," Durandal replied, pausing for a moment as her gaze shifted toward the sky—toward two figures facing each other far above the battlefield.
Rimuru stared curiously at the End Herrscher before him, while she scrutinized him just as carefully.
"Outsider from another world, why are you meddling in affairs that have nothing to do with you?" the End Herrscher finally spoke.
"So you are conscious," Rimuru replied. "I should be calling you the Honkai Will now, right? Let me ask you—why do you keep destroying humanity over and over again? What's your purpose?"
"I am indeed the Honkai Will. As for my purpose—it's evolution. Progress," the End Herrscher answered flatly, giving a completely unacceptable explanation.
"I don't see how endless destruction counts as progress!" Rimuru shouted angrily. "You've destroyed countless civilizations, broken countless families, caused so much suffering—how shameless must you be to justify it like this?"
"I'm not destroying them. I'm merely presenting a threat, to force them to evolve faster," she replied. "It's because of me that humans progress at such speeds. My existence forces unity. Drives innovation. Those who perish? Just the unworthy—rejects. There's no point mourning them."
"That's beyond cruel," Rimuru growled, his face dark. "They're not products on a shelf!"
"Whether they are or not isn't for them to decide," the End Herrscher said coldly. "Pigs, sheep, cattle they don't want to be livestock either, but that's not up to them. The strong prey on the weak. Natural selection. Isn't that a truth your species already understands?"
"My existence doesn't destroy humanity. I preserve their civilization from era to era, helping them develop faster each time. Only by constantly evolving can humanity achieve perfection. That's why I exist."
"Humanity doesn't need your twisted 'purpose,'" Rimuru snapped. He'd had enough. No more talking. He was going to destroy this thing.
"Outsider from another world, this is our world's issue. You have no right to interfere," the End Herrscher warned, locking eyes with him.
"Sorry, but whether I have the right or not… you don't get to decide that," Rimuru replied coolly.
"So, there's no point talking further," she said, raising her spear and lunging toward him.
Her lance warped through folded space, appearing directly in front of Rimuru's eyes, aimed to pierce them in one strike.
But Rimuru wasn't caught off guard. He too controlled the power of space, and with a flicker, redirected the weapon away.
With a flash, he drew his black sword and clashed with the End Herrscher.
The End Herrscher, armed with the powers of all Herrschers—void manipulation, space warping, regeneration, time-freezing, and more was easily one of the most dangerous foes Rimuru had ever faced. Each of her already terrifying powers had been amplified to monstrous levels.
The true battle… had only just begun.
