Chapter 40 - Chapter 38: Enter Kira: Sovereign Without a Crown

POV: Reader

Location: Cityscape Ruins – Throne Zone Sigma-9

---

Ash fell.

Not like snow.

Like a memory.

Flakes of burnt time drifting from the cracked sky, slow and silent, each one a story that had tried to matter—and failed.

We stood on the edge of the city. Or what had been one. Skyscrapers stretched like broken fingers clawing at a sky that refused to notice them. Neon signs flickered with no power. Roads coiled into spirals. Gravity sagged in places, like even physics was grieving.

Above us, the floating thrones turned slowly.

Watching.

Judging.

Unclaimed.

And below us, in the heart of the ruin—

> A crater.

Not just smashed earth.

A scar on the world.

Still smoking. Still burning.

Still aware.

---

Jiwoon stepped forward. His voice was barely breath:

> "What happened here?"

Ereze didn't answer at first.

Her blade, still wet from the last fight, hung low in her hand.

> "Not what," she said. "Who."

And that's when we saw him.

---

Standing.

In the center of the crater.

Alone.

The smoke peeled away, slow and reverent, like even the aftermath was afraid to linger.

He wore no armor. No gilded cloak. Just a black coat — torn at the edges like it had survived more than just time. A scarf wrapped loosely around his neck, shifting with no wind.

His left hand rested gently on the hilt of a sword that wasn't drawn.

Didn't need to be.

Every building in a five-block radius had already been sliced.

> Horizontally. Perfectly. As if reality had sighed and given up.

---

And When i looked at him to check about him then this happened.

No glyph.

No health bar.

No nameplate.

Just reputation, thick as gravity.

A whisper that echoed through the system like an unspoken curse:

> KIRA

The sovereign without a crown.

---

Jiwoon raised his voice, defiant but shaky.

> "Who the hell are you?"

Kira didn't even look.

He simply reached into his coat and pulled out a small object — something jagged, dulled with time.

> A crown fragment.

Just one piece of a symbol long abandoned.

He stared at it for a moment, like it was a joke only he understood.

Then dropped it.

> Clink.

The shard hit the ground, glowed faintly blue—

And vanished.

> "Kings are outdated metaphors," he said, voice like a courtroom gavel.

"But someone still has to kill the story."

---

Then he looked at me.

Not at my body.

At me.

> "⬜⬜⬜," he said.

Not a greeting.

Not an accusation.

Just… certainty.

---

> "Scriptburner."

My heart stalled. "You know me?"

He nodded once.

Casual.

Like it wasn't terrifying.

> "I've read your ending."

The silence after that felt heavier than any battlefield.

> "It was boring."

---

Ereze took a step forward.

Her blade shimmered with tension. But her feet didn't move.

Couldn't.

> [WARNING: Presence Detected – Chaos Level: ???]

[Do not engage unless suicidal or you are protected by ⬜⬜⬜.]

---

Kira turned slightly, just enough to glance toward her.

> "You'll all live," he said. "For now."

"I want to see how far you crawl."

And with that, he walked.

Right past us.

Not hurrying.

Just… moving.

And as he passed, the very scene seemed to adjust for him — like the world was unwilling to resist his path.

---

But then he paused.

Behind me.

So close I felt frost crawl up my spine. Not from fear. From presence.

> "Rewrite all you want, ⬜⬜⬜."

"But don't forget — every throne bleeds."

And then he was gone.

Not walked away.

Erased himself.

Like he was redacting his own chapter.

---

The air cracked.

Light returned.

Time sighed.

We didn't speak at first. Couldn't.

Then Jiwoon's voice broke the silence:

> "I… think I peed a little."

I almost laughed.

Almost.

Ereze just exhaled and sheathed her blade.

> "He didn't show his Trait."

> "No," I said, my voice like paper.

"He didn't need to."

I looked at the crater again.

It wasn't a battlefield.

It was a correction.

Like the world had written something there and Kira had edited it out.

> This wasn't a war.

This was a reminder.

Kira didn't come to play the game.

> He came to break it. And soon He will become the ⬜⬜⬜.
