Zerra had no choice but to drag Eryx to the front of a closed shop nearby. Seeing him in such pain, she sighed… she couldn't resist her soft-heart.
It was also because this man was going to be the one who replaced her as the zombie king in the future. They had a similar fate, so she couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for him. It was a kinship between fellow cannon fodders.
He was so heavy… Zerra grumbled after she was done, gasping for breath. The rain had made her entire body wet, but luckily, the front terrace of the shop was wide enough. She wouldn't get splashed by the rain water unless there was a strong wind.
Although Zerra was a zombie king, she had also been a space ability user before. She knew how some people could turn the chance of becoming an ability user bigger.
"Eryx, isn't it? I think I have heard from my brother, Laziel. You are one of his friends." Zerra began introducing herself. "I am his little sister, Zerra."
Eryx would be an ability user too before he got bitten and turned into a zombie. His current transformation wouldn't make him turn into one, but she couldn't just leave him in the heavy storm alone like that.
She had to help him achieve the awakening first, and then the next thing would be easier.
"I also would like to help you meet your sister, Doctor Ashborn, but as you can see that it's raining pretty heavily… can you please try to move?"
She was trying to stir his willpower. Just a few meters and she nearly passed out of exhaustion after dragging his body. She really couldn't bring her home herself.
Hopefully, by the time Eryx succeeded, Doctor Ashborn was still at her grandma's house.
He let out a groan, his body twitched slightly like he was undergoing some kind of excruciating pain. His hands clenched, and amidst the lightning, she could see his veins bulging. He gritted his teeth, trying to preserve his consciousness.
Zerra decided to encourage him by giving him some pressure. "Come on, I know that you can do it. Doctor Ashborn is very close to our place right now. Let's move before she leaves…"
When she touched his forehead, the heat scorched her hand, and she nearly jumped. It was such a contrast to the cold she was feeling from the rain right now.
"Call… sister…" Eryx began to talk again. "Leave…"
"You want me to leave first to call your sister?" Zerra thought about it, and it sounded like a good plan.
She looked left and right, trying to find some cover for him. There was some abandoned cardboard she could use. The owner of the store must have been in such a hurry that they didn't have time to clean them.
"Wait here." She muttered, then hesitating a bit before she whispered something in Eryx's ears.
The man groaned again, and she hurriedly headed toward Grandma's house. When she arrived, Grandma was waiting on the front porch with a stern look on her face.
"Where have you been? Look at the surroundings, it's so dark and raining! A storm is coming and you are still playing outside." She grumbled, but as Zerra stepped onto the front porch, she handed her a towel and used another to wipe her face.
"Go inside and change your clothes. You are so drenched, like a cat falling into a river." Grandma held her head.
"Grandma, is Doctor Ashborn still inside?" Zerra asked, her teeth chattering slightly because of the cold.
"She is still inside." She nodded, then thought of it, "Let her check on you again–"
Her words were cut off when Zerra already bolted inside the room upon hearing Grandma's answer. She found Doctor Ashborn inside, packing her things while looking at the window worriedly. Occasionally, she would also check her phone and frowned.
"Doctor Ashborn." Zerra called. "Do you have a brother called Eryx?"
Feng Yang stood up with wide eyes when she heard that. She didn't mind Zerra, who was drenched wet at all and shook her shoulders. "Miss Zerra, have you seen my brother?"
"Yes." She nodded seriously. "He seems to be sick, and I brought him to the front of a store."
A worried look painted Doctor Ashborn's face. "Can you please bring me there, Miss…?"
"Of course, follow me."
"Where are you going?" Grandma looked at Zerra in disapproval when she saw her about getting into Doctor Ashborn's car again. "Don't pester Doctor Ashborn. Stay home!"
"It will just take a little while, Grandma. Believe in me. I will go back soon!" After she said that, Doctor Ashborn also asked for permission to bring Zerra along before Grandma begrudgingly allowed her. Her face held a doubt, seemingly didn't believe that Zerra was trying to help people, just like she said.
When the two arrived at the place where Eryx was. They hurriedly tried to place him inside the car. The person was now completely unconscious.
"Have you finished checking up on my sister, Doctor Ashborn? You should go back." Zerra said upon seeing Doctor Ashborn's worried face.
"I will drive you to your home first, Miss. Thank you so much." Doctor Ashborn said.
When they pulled up to Grandma's house again, she was still there. Upon seeing that they had really gone to pick up a person, her face was inexplicable. She looked at Zerra weirdly and didn't say anything besides urge her to go inside.
Zerra changed her clothes before she drank a ginger soup that Grandma had made, then she went to Nyra's room.
"Grandma, I bought some supplies. I already put them on the kitchen counter." She muttered. "The storm might be long."
Grandma frowned, but when she looked out at the window, she ultimately didn't say anything. Until the some hours later, she realized that Zerra's words proved to be true.
The storm didn't recede. If anything, the winds outside were getting stronger. Zerra had tried to check her space, but it was the same as before, inaccessible.
Nyra was still completely unconscious.
At this moment, amidst the cracking thunder, Grandma shrieked from her eldest granddaughter's room. When Zerra came to check, she was stunned by what she saw.
There was a giant centipede the size of a man's palm trying to reach Nyra. Because of Grandma's intervention, now the creature has shifted its attention to her.
"Grandma, watch out!"
