Episode 78: Seraphina's Song
The world trembled.
Every realm, every sky, every forgotten corner of time and space felt the scream of the First Flame echo like a death bell.
Lucian stood with his blade raised, his obsidian armor singing in response to the roaring blaze before him. But it wasn't enough. The First Flame wasn't an enemy to be defeated—it was a truth too old, too primal to be undone.
Seraphina watched as reality splintered around them, the stars above blinking out one by one. Still, she stepped forward.
"Don't!" Lucian shouted, but she didn't stop.
Seraphina lifted her hands and began to sing.
It wasn't a melody of sorrow or rage—it was memory. Her song told the story of a girl who was stolen by fate, of a love forged in darkness, of choices made not by destiny but by the heart.
The fire recoiled.
It wasn't used to this—this pure defiance wrapped in song.
The First Flame snarled, twisting itself into a storm of molten tongues and fiery wings. "You dare sing to me?" it hissed.
"Yes," Seraphina whispered. "Because your fire is ancient—but it forgot how to feel."
Her song grew louder.
It reached the ruins of Eden's Garden, where roses bloomed red with blood.
It echoed through the Abyssal Forge, silencing the Chainbreaker.
Even in Heaven, the Celestial Council paused.
The Throne responded.
It pulsed.
Once.
Twice.
Then it blazed.
From it, the spirits of past kings and fallen angels burst forth in phantom flame. They surrounded Seraphina and Lucian like a choir of vengeance, their light and shadows intertwining.
The First Flame screamed again.
But this time, it faltered.
Lucian surged forward. With Seraphina's voice in his ears and the memory of all they had survived burning in his soul, he struck.
Not at the Flame—but through it.
The blade did not pierce flesh.
It pierced pride.
The Flame shattered, fragments scattering into constellations.
Darkness fell.
And then light.
When Seraphina opened her eyes, Lucian stood before her, his armor cracked, his chest heaving.
"It's done," he said.
But the sky above rumbled.
And far away, in the shadows left behind by the broken Flame, another presence awakened.
Older.
Hungrier.
Watching.
