Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

There is nothing more she hated than someone interrupting her while she was working. So she went straight to Richard Fox to ensure that no one was to contact her unless it really required her. Because Aria Winters is going to take all her time for now .

Once she had made sure that she got everything to work on Aria's case , she started with all the basic checkups which as she expected gave her nothing to lead on. Then she went on to an advanced test, she knew that the result would not be here anytime soon as this was going to be taken care of by Amy. Not that she lacked speed, the process of the test just happened to be that way. It was more hit and trial than getting any conclusive answer.

After doing all the preliminary things , she felt like she almost had nothing to do. But she couldn't exactly stop there. She went on monitoring the way her body functioning had been affected over the years. And where the real damage lies.

And as far as she could tell, her mind had shut down on its own, rather than the drug maybe due to events before her coma. Though she was not sure. She had taken a sample so that she could do research on how other drugs could affect her, and leads seemed to be moving in a positive direction. Though again it wasn't anything, but it was indeed better than nothing.

It had only been a few days since she had taken this case up, but she had ended up staying late almost every night.

As she was considering the possibilities, she suddenly heard the door open.

A gorgeous man stepped into the room and barely paid any attention to her, she became aware of him the moment he stepped in. And she had taken his presence into account, it was quite hard to ignore it. She has never been charmed like this. The pull she had towards him was so hard to ignore. Almost painfully hard. It was like she had always known him, it was like his existence mattered to her in more ways than she was aware of.

The man had focused only on the girl on the bed since he had arrived and that was when realisation dawned on her that it was the rumoured Felix Blackthorne in flesh. If she could have an opinion the rumours didn't do him justice. He certainly did have that dark aura. But his gorgeousness was too much.

She didn't want to be caught gawking so she turned her attention to Aria. And gave herself a mental slap for losing herself for a moment. She knew it rarely happened to her. She was known to be quite cold hearted in that aspect. Rarely had she been pleased with men. She blamed it on the long hours she was working on the case. But she knew very well that she was lying to herself. She had handled even more distressing cases. But she dismissed all of it nonetheless.

Suddenly he seemed to have been aware of her and called out to her to ask about Aria's condition. She slowly faced him and started explaining things at the preliminary level. Because she had absolutely not considered it into account if she should tell him about what she was doing or not. And gave herself another mental slap for this. The hospital knew who she was and was rather happy to let her take the case. But she was not sure if the Blackthrone family would be alright with a doctor who came out of nowhere to treat her.

Considering all the threats that could actually exist in such a scenario she didn't exactly blame them , to be taking such precautions. In fact it's what she expected from the Blackthorne family. But she also knew that it would not help her situation unless she revealed her identity. Which she was not ready for. Telling some of the staff was one thing and telling a high profile person in the country was another. She knew that no one in the medical world would dare to upset her. But she could not say the same from the others.

The Blackthrone's may not expose who she was. They may not gain anything , but She wanted to keep a low profile until what she had come for had been attained. And revealing who she was would simply not do. She was afraid of the tight spot she was in now. If she lost her chance with Aria , the mess created would be too much.

Between all her thoughts she noticed how he had frozen, almost as if he had seen a ghost. That definitely did not help with her fear. Was he upset that a new doctor had taken over without informing him? She was upset that she had to face all this. But now she could only bear it. She knew it would be worth it.

"Mr Blackthorne are you alright? Do you need something?" She asked. She had absolutely no idea what she was to do. She has never felt so weak, and something deep in her was saying that it was not the situation that made her so.

His haze broke and there was a moment of weakness which he masked rather quickly. Coldness set all over him. He did not stand there any longer. He turned in heel and headed straight to the door and closed it with such force.

Luna has never been more shocked in her life. She frozen, unable to process what had just happened now. Considering his reaction her job at the hospital has been done for. All her leads have drowned. She was at her rock bottom. She collapsed unable to ignore the hurt which was defenitely not solely about her job. Somehow the way he left affected her, pained her. It almost fell like he took her heart away. Like rejected her, even the idea of her. And she hated how it affected her.
