As Xiao Feng's armored convoy arrived at the airport to confront the armed helicopter combat squadron, the entire perimeter entrance was strewn with the wreckage of Alliance military vehicles.
Surprisingly, these war machines had been felled by merely eight black-armored mech warriors—the very eight sent by the Braum Corporation to protect Kerry.
Alongside some of Kerry's other troops, these eight mech warriors effortlessly seized control of the airport. The guards stationed inside never imagined that anyone could breach the airport's defenses, especially under the heavy protection of the Alliance forces.
The mech warriors held the perimeter, while other psychic envoys swiftly subdued the security personnel within. To these envoys, the airport's guards were laughably weak.
They easily corralled all the security into a single room, imprisoning them without much effort.
Upon spotting Xiao Feng's convoy, the eight mech warriors retracted their ion laser cannons—each fifty centimeters thick and three meters long—and advanced toward the lead armored vehicle. After shoving aside the remains of the crushed Alliance war machines, they halted before it. Xiao Feng leapt down from the driver's seat, eyes fixed on the black-armored psychics, a trace of surprise lingering on his face.
"Just the eight of you took down all these war vehicles?"
The mech squad leader swaggered forward, a metallic clanking accompanying his steps. "Heh, yes. Our combat prowess is quite formidable, isn't it?"
"Indeed, extremely formidable. If you intend to seize this city, I believe you could succeed."
"Officer Xiao Feng, you jest!"
"Don't call me officer; it sounds awkward. Just call me Xiao Feng... You stay here to hold the line, I'll lead my men inside."
As Xiao Feng was about to board his vehicle and proceed into the airport, a massive crimson pickup truck roared up and screeched to a halt beside him. He glanced toward the driver with irritation—Kerry's brash and arrogant demeanor remained unchanged, his reckless driving had nearly clipped Xiao Feng by mere centimeters.
Kerry leapt out of the truck. "Hey, Xiao Feng, what do you think? My men's combat strength isn't bad, right?"
Xiao Feng chuckled dryly. "Indeed, stronger than you, even. What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be at the command center?"
Kerry laughed heartily. "Don't worry about the command center. We've already crippled their systems. Without my little Louise, they can't restore command!"
Xiao Feng nodded. "Who's Louise? Make sure to thank her properly for me."
Just then, Louise emerged from behind Kerry, a sly smile playing on her lips as she regarded the black-armored Xiao Feng. "I'm Louise. If you want to thank me, do it in person."
Xiao Feng turned to her, noticing the flicker of surprise in Kerry's expression. It was clear there was some unspoken bond between Kerry and this Louise. With a teasing tone, he said, "Oh? So this beauty is Louise. How exactly do you expect me to thank you?"
Louise coquettishly adjusted her glasses. "That depends on your sincerity. I don't entertain trivial gifts..."
Kerry, watching the two converse, couldn't hide his displeasure. He hadn't realized how much he still cared about Louise. Irritated, he said, "If you have business, get going. We'll discuss matters further once we've taken Black Whale City."
Xiao Feng smiled knowingly. "I won't lay a finger on Louise. Heh, Kerry, looks like you're jealous!"
"Nonsense!"
Louise stared at Kerry, incredulous. "Kerry, are you really jealous?"
"No! Whose jealousy would I be nursing? Don't listen to Xiao Feng's nonsense..."
Xiao Feng dismissed Kerry, for he knew far more pressing matters awaited inside the airport.
Leading his armored convoy, he charged into the airport, driving straight toward the hangars. His focus was solely on the fighter jets, whose safety held significant weight in his heart.
Not only did the armored vehicles arrive, but the armed helicopter squadron also landed, requiring ammunition resupply.
Through his comms, Xiao Feng commanded, "Armored vehicles, secure the hangars. Helicopters, replenish ammo. Brada, order your missile units to redeploy to the airport immediately!"
"On my way!" came Brada's prompt reply.
After issuing orders, Xiao Feng steered his convoy into the hangar.
Shortly after, Kerry's red pickup rumbled in behind him. Xiao Feng surveyed the dozens of fighter jets before him and couldn't suppress a joyful laugh. "Ha! Excellent! From now on, I'll be counting on you all..."
Kerry hopped out of his truck. "Wow, I didn't expect Black Whale City to house so many jets!"
"Quite a few—at least forty, by my count," Xiao Feng said casually.
"Yes, though these jets aren't the latest models. Once we fully control Black Whale City, I'll arrange for them to be upgraded as quickly as possible. After the upgrades, their combat effectiveness should double!"
"Really? Heh, working with you is a true pleasure!" Xiao Feng laughed, extending his right hand for a handshake.
Kerry ignored the gesture completely.
Unperturbed, Xiao Feng clasped his hands on his hips, admiring the jets. This was the kind of firepower he desired.
Lighting a cigarette, Kerry warned, "Don't get too cocky just yet. First, think about how you'll deploy your defenses."
"No need to worry; your father will handle that for me. By the way, where's the Braum Corporation's arsenal in Black Whale City?"
Kerry frowned. "Why are you asking about the arsenal? That's Braum's property!"
Xiao Feng smirked confidently. "Don't fret. Your father will provide it to me..."
At that moment, Mark's voice crackled sharply through Xiao Feng's comms. "Xiao Feng, unidentified aerial objects approaching rapidly from the east—velocity three times the speed of sound!"
Xiao Feng's brow furrowed. "Damn it, I knew capturing Black Whale City wouldn't be so easy. The trouble I feared has indeed arrived!"
He barked into his comms, "Brada, when will your missile units be in position? Hurry!"
