Chapter 172 - Chapter One Hundred Seventy-Two: Do You Know Who I Am?

Xiao Feng's greatest concern was the safety of the fleet of fighter jets—if they were lost, the airport's security would be shattered, and his worries would be justified.

Kerry observed Xiao Feng's anxious expression with a faint smile. "I think you should send someone with me to the command center. If we can hold it, the city's defenses will surely lend you strong support."

Xiao Feng paused, then suddenly cursed, "Damn it, why didn't you say so earlier? I'll send someone with you immediately. I wonder if we can still make it in time."

Kerry chuckled, "Probably not. A plane traveling at three times the speed of sound will reach Black Whale City within minutes. But how much damage can a single aircraft inflict? As long as it doesn't deploy nuclear weapons, it poses no real threat to us."

"What then shall we do?"

Kerry grinned, "Aren't you a crack shot? Why not take the shot yourself? Louise will help you lock on the target."

Louise's eyes widened in astonishment. "You mean for Xiao Feng to shoot down a supersonic plane with a rifle?"

Casting a glance at Kerry, who wore a spectator's amused expression, Xiao Feng yanked the colossal sniper rifle, Black Angel, off the armored vehicle and strode purposefully toward the hangar's exit.

Louise glanced between Kerry and the formidable weapon. "You're not joking, are you?"

Kerry still smiling, "We are entirely serious."

Louise and the other psychically gifted envoys followed closely behind Xiao Feng as he left the hangar. Louise rapidly typed on her console, successfully locking onto the supersonic aircraft approaching swiftly from the east of Black Whale City.

She showed Xiao Feng the plane's coordinates coldly. He then positioned the Black Angel atop Kerry's pickup truck bed, aiming the highest of the three scopes directly eastward.

This particular scope, seldom used by Xiao Feng, was renowned for its extraordinary capabilities—it could automatically lock on moving targets, with a reticle that tracked the target's motion. Crucially, it featured an embedded microcomputer that calculated the target's velocity and distance to determine the precise point of impact ahead of the target.

Two minutes later, Louise informed Xiao Feng, "It has entered Black Whale City's airspace and is decelerating. Its likely target is this airport."

Xiao Feng sneered, "It's not my first time shooting at a plane, but this is my first time targeting a supersonic jet." At that moment, the third scope revealed the aircraft's image—a bullet-shaped vessel hurtling rapidly closer.

The Black Angel's third scope locked onto the plane, its reticle shadowing the speeding aircraft. A second red reticle moved just ahead of the plane's trajectory.

Now three reticles appeared—one locked on the plane, one red marker moving ahead, and the third controlled by Xiao Feng. When this controllable reticle overlapped the red marker, it indicated a perfect shot on the moving target.

Though this advanced scope was astonishing, taking down a supersonic fighter would test both the Black Angel's precision and Xiao Feng's skill to their utmost limits.

Yet Xiao Feng's marksmanship intellect defied all expectations.

Without hesitation, he raised the Black Angel's aim slightly, aligning the controlled reticle perfectly with the red marker. A sharp crack echoed as the rifle fired a slender bullet, aimed several hundred meters in front of the aircraft.

Xiao Feng had evidently calculated the difference between the bullet's velocity and the jet's speed, aiming where the plane would soon be. If fortune favored him, the bullet would strike true.

Louise and the other psychics fixated on her console's screen. Moments later, the plane erupted in a thunderous explosion, leaving everyone stunned.

"Damn, he really hit it!"

"This guy's insane—he shot down a supersonic plane with a sniper rifle!"

"Oh my God, I must be hallucinating!"

"No matter how skilled the gun is, it can't be this ridiculously accurate!"

Silence fell, broken only by Louise's sharp finger pointing at a dark shape on the screen. She swiftly zoomed in.

"Holy—it's a person!"

The silhouette had ejected from the blazing wreckage, plummeting rapidly earthward in armor, conspicuously without a parachute. Such a fall, without any deceleration device, would surely reduce anyone to dust upon impact.

Xiao Feng re-aimed the third scope at the falling figure, his instincts warning him of the imminent threat. To dare jump from a supersonic jet without a parachute suggested formidable psychic powers.

He fired a second shot without hesitation. The bullet thundered past just below the descending figure.

Xiao Feng kept the scope's reticle locked firmly on the target, confident he could neutralize this threat with a single shot, especially since the falling figure's speed was far less than three times the speed of sound.

Yet suddenly, the figure's body jerked to an abrupt halt mid-air, the bullet whizzing harmlessly beneath.

That brief pause left everyone, including Xiao Feng, utterly dumbfounded. To arrest one's fall so suddenly defied all reason—what kind of psychic ability was this? Through the scope, Xiao Feng even caught a glimpse of the figure's triumphant smile directed at him.

An ominous premonition gripped Xiao Feng, and he whispered urgently into his communicator, "Rush, K, get to the airport at top speed—I've run into serious trouble!"

Rush chuckled in reply, "What kind of trouble? Do you really want me to intervene personally?"

"Cut the crap, just hurry. I suspect this one's a Level 8 or higher psychic!" Before Xiao Feng finished, the figure slammed into the grassy area beside the airport, gouging a massive crater, dirt and debris flying.

Xiao Feng pivoted the Black Angel's aim toward the crater, flattening himself on the ground, eyes fixed on the impact site... If that figure emerges from the crater, Xiao Feng would not hesitate for a second before pulling the trigger once more...
