Chapter 14 - Chapter 13: The Recruitment Plan

It turned out that Horn had spotted this monster as soon as it approached the yard. Although its life force was not strong, Horn still asked Enoch to cast an illusion on the monster!

The monster had been under Enoch's illusion all the time!

In Enoch's initial estimation, the severe pain of gnawing on the saw was enough to wake it up, but the monster was still indulged in it.

It was unknown whether its pain nerves were very weak or its astonishing feeding instinct overshadowed the pain!

For this monster, feeding was more important than anything else!

Watching the monster fiercely gnawing on the saw with blood flying everywhere, there was both pity and disgust on Horn's face.

The pity was that the monster was truly in a miserable state at the moment, and the disgust was because such a monster simply had no value in existence. It would be better for it to die soon!

One could well imagine what kind of tragedy would occur if it had entered an ordinary household instead of Douglas' carpenter shop.

A flicker of fire appeared at Horn's fingertips as he released a first - ring fire - type magic spell, the Flame Spell. He wanted to end the monster's life earlier.

In Horn's view, gnawing on the saw was also a form of punishment. As for why he didn't use his favorite Thunder Touch on the monster, Horn said it was better not to touch the body of a "caterpillar".

The small flame slowly drifted towards the monster. As soon as it touched the monster, it spread across its whole body like it had touched gasoline. The monster howled in the raging fire. Although it had broken free from the illusion, it had no time to care about that now!

The monster only managed to struggle a few times before being burned to a cinder. Its vitality was even weaker than that of a normal adult man!

A first - ring magic spell wouldn't end the life of an ordinary person so quickly, yet this seemingly ferocious monster died so fast.

"Wow, this monster is really weak. I've never seen such a weak one before," Enoch said disdainfully. Usually, things that looked so grotesque should at least be first - level magical beasts, and this one seemed that two or three well - trained farmers could easily deal with it.

Just as Enoch had spoken disdainfully about the monster, the burned and immobile monster suddenly became transparent, and the monster's blood splashed all over the ground also turned transparent. In just a few breaths, the monster had disappeared!

The relaxed expression on Horn's face turned strange, a bit solemn and a bit incredulous. Wasn't this the way of disappearance that Brother Locke had mentioned when they went to Aunt Mayz's house a few days ago?

Didn't this kind of thing only appear in the North District?

Were the monsters now appearing in the West District?

"Enoch, do you feel it?" Horn nudged Enoch's arm with his finger and said.

"Feel what? But now that you mention it, I do think the energy fluctuation when this monster disappeared was a bit strange, like..."

Enoch carefully organized his words to describe this feeling.

"Like the magic power fluctuation when you and I cast spells!" Horn said affirmatively.

"Is that possible? Is there really another wild witch like you and me in Lean City? There aren't many wild witches who can cast spells," Enoch said in disbelief.

"It's unlikely to be a wild witch who can cast spells. The knowledge you've learned is unique,"

Horn said firmly. In Horn's mind, there couldn't be a second person like old Douglas in the world.

"Maybe it's just the confused period during the awakening of talent. You've also gone through this period, right?"

"When I awakened, I just made the people around me have some small illusions. But the appearance of monsters all over the city doesn't seem like the situation when a wild witch awakens," Enoch found it even more incredible.

The confused period was a stage that every wild witch would inevitably go through. During this stage, wild witches would constantly cast small tricks that their bodies could bear at the limit.

In Douglas' words, the human body that had just become a wild witch was not yet used to the feeling of magic power inside the body, so the confused period existed. And this phenomenon would no longer occur after the body got used to the magic power.

"It's still possible. Maybe this guy has extremely powerful talent," Horn thought for a while and said.

"Powerful talent?" After hearing this, Enoch grinned and said to Horn, "Horn, how about we recruit him as a companion?"

"Um, this guy has become the focus of Lean City now. Isn't it a bit dangerous for us to go? Besides, we don't even know what kind of person this is. What if he's a good - for - nothing?" Horn looked at Enoch in surprise.

"Horn, I'm surprised you've been doing experiments to find companions all day. When there's really someone who could be a companion, you're so hesitant. Moreover, if that person is no good, we can just kill him. Do you think such a thing can pose a threat to us?"

Enoch said carelessly. He was stronger than before, and killing two black - robed deacons last time had made him a bit overconfident.

"You're right. Then let's go to North Street tonight. Anyway, with your illusion and my abilities, as long as we don't run into the high priest or more than two white - robed deacons, we can get away safely."

After weighing the situation, Horn decided to follow Enoch's suggestion. He was quite looking forward to expanding his wild - witch team.

"Haha, then it's time for the famous Evil - faced Man to make a move!" Enoch said to Horn with a mischievous smile on his face.

"Go to hell with your Evil - faced Man! You'll wash the dishes today," Horn had lost his appetite after seeing the huge "caterpillar" and left the dining room directly.

Enoch made a mournful face and wailed, "You can't treat me like this!"

Horn left Enoch's sight as if he hadn't heard.

The sun slowly set, and the pure white moon climbed into the sky. The night in Lean City was very quiet.

This time, Horn just put on his robe and covered his face with a black cloth. He didn't want to be wrapped in strips of cloth all over his face and be called the Evil - faced Man again.

Enoch somehow got a black robe similar to Horn's and put it on. If an uninformed person saw the two of them standing together, they would think these two were no good. What kind of good people would wear black robes, hide their faces, and run around at night?

"Enoch, where did you get this robe..." Horn felt a bit embarrassed by Enoch's outfit.

"I had it custom - made at Walker's in the North District. For a merchant, as long as you pay, everything is fine. How about it? Doesn't it match yours well?" Enoch twirled around in front of Horn.

"Aren't you afraid of being regarded as an accomplice of the Evil - faced Man because of this robe? Aren't you afraid that the people at Walker's will identify you later?"

Horn thought Enoch must be crazy to have such an important robe custom - made outside.

"Anyway, I am an accomplice of the Evil - faced Man," Enoch said with a playful smile.

"And they don't know what I really look like."
