Chapter 26 - Chapter 25: Spells

If possible, Alanek still hoped not to fight with Ilya. A person's reputation is like a tree's shadow. Countless wizards had fallen at Ilya's hands, and he naturally didn't think he had full confidence to deal with this guy.

Even with a ghost - faced centipede, he wasn't confident!

After all, there were also quite a few sixth - level wizards who had died at Ilya's hands!

But now, whether to fight or not was not up to Alanek!

Alanek had just roared and was still waiting for Ilya's reply. Horn also struggled to sit up, waiting for a chance to escape. Just as he sat up, he heard a loud "bang"!

A gust of wind blew in Horn's face.

It was the wind pressure generated when Ilya's leg hit Alanek's protective shield!

The purple energy shield that Horn couldn't do anything about only held on for a moment before being kicked apart. Light purple energy fragments scattered in mid - air. Without the protective shield, Alanek's head was directly kicked in the face by Ilya's big foot and flew dozens of meters horizontally before hitting a tree and stopping!

The wind pressure generated by the huge force, the light spots formed by the light purple energy fragments flying in the air, and the shaking tree where the person flew to, all entangled and echoed in Horn's mind, making Horn suddenly aware of his own weakness and his longing for power!

"Old man, stop talking nonsense. If you're not afraid, come on! I'll fight you to the end!"

Ilya placed his hand on the hilt of the dark - white great sword inserted in the beetle's head. With a slight tremble of his palm, an invisible wave covered the great sword. With a "boom"! The beetle's head exploded directly!

Flesh and blood fragments scattered in all directions. Strangely, none of them flew towards Ilya, and most of them splashed on Horn. The beetle was completely dead this time. Its claws, which had been struggling before, stopped moving, only twitching slightly due to a slight nerve reaction!

Ilya picked up the long sword and casually swung it in Horn's direction, shaking off all the beetle blood on the sword.

It just so happened that it all landed on Horn again...

He carried the clean - swung long sword on his shoulder and coldly said to the insect wizard lying under the tree:

"Alanek, I didn't come here to play games with you. I'm here to take your head and sell it for money. By the way, you're not worth me making a special trip. It's just on the way."

"Wow, Ilya is so cool!"

Aria on the tree clapped her hands and shouted down.

On the other side, the insect wizard Alanek, who had been sent flying, also staggered to his feet. His face was smashed by that powerful kick, and his current appearance was extremely terrifying.

Countless small insects crawled out of his clothes and rushed into his mangled face one after another. After just a short while, Alanek's face returned to normal!

Horn felt a shiver down his spine. This Alanek looked like a frail old man, but he could still stand up after being kicked dozens of meters away!

Moreover, his almost shattered head had returned to its previous state in just a moment!

Horn suddenly felt a bit lucky. Previously, he thought that as long as he got rid of that beetle, he could easily escape with his young man's foot speed. But now it seemed that such an idea was just wishful thinking!

If it weren't for the arrival of the dragon - slayer Ilya, Horn would surely have died!

After Alanek recovered, all the insects he had summoned began to roar, as if declaring war on Ilya!

The battle was on the verge of breaking out. No one paid attention to Horn, this insignificant figure. Neither side was a weakling that could be easily dealt with. In a battle of this level, a moment of distraction could lead to death!

Taking advantage of the fact that no one was paying attention, Horn endured the pain and stood up, forcing himself to start fleeing the battlefield. The two of them weren't interested in stopping Horn from leaving, so he easily left their battlefield. A moment after Horn left, a deafening roar came from behind.

The battle had begun!

Horn didn't have the thought of waiting for the two to fight to the death and then taking advantage of the situation. Not to mention that he was seriously injured and had exhausted his magic power. Even if he were in perfect condition and full of magic power, just based on the scale of the battle between these two, if an attack went astray, it would cost Horn his life!

Moreover, in Horn's view, even if these two were on their last breath, he probably wouldn't be their match!

The saying "when the snipe and the clam fight, the fisherman benefits" is based on a certain level of ability. Waiting stupidly for the end of the battle without strength is definitely a suicidal act. And since neither of them had a good impression of him, Horn would never take the risk to stay.

After escaping from the battlefield, Horn came to the place where Alanek had tied up Annie before. These two places weren't far apart, so with Horn's physical condition, he could barely make it here.

He wanted to rescue Annie. Without Annie, based on his current physical condition, he wouldn't be able to make it back to Douglas' carpentry shop.

Annie was still tied up. Her eyes were red and swollen from crying, but they showed a determined look. Although she was very weak, she would rather die than become a wizard!

She had made up her mind that as long as there was a chance, she would immediately commit suicide, never giving that old man the chance to turn her into a monster.

Because she still remembered what Horn had told her, that so - called wizards were ordinary humans whose spirits were enslaved by abyss demons. They seemed free and powerful, but every move of theirs had to conform to the behavioral rules of the demons behind them!

Even if they didn't want to, they had to kill people. No matter how powerful a wizard was, they were just slaves of demons!

She didn't want to become such a puppet!

Annie's little brain...
