Chapter 17 - Dreams, Wands, and the Weight of Magic

Though well-meaning, his words somehow sounded guilty and awkward, as if he were doing something illegal, like trying to discreetly loan shark underage students.

Elarion finally realized that this arrogant young master wasn't trying to show off. He let out a small chuckle and smiled brightly, "Thanks a lot, Young Master Leon! But I believe that even if I rely only on myself, someday I'll be able to wield not just an excellent wand, but even an epic-grade one!"

Lee Kiwook nodded along in agreement, silently expressing that he shared the same ambition.

Leon, once again failing in his attempt to win favor, flushed with embarrassment and frustration. He slammed his desk with a loud bang and scooted his seat a little farther away.

"Fine, do whatever you want!"

"All right, everyone, settle down," Ms. Roaille said as she tapped on the lectern. Her warm smile quickly pulled all the young mages' attention back to the front.

"I'll be responsible for teaching your magical theory for the next year. If anything is unclear, please don't hesitate to ask me."

Her gentle gaze flowed over each of their young, fresh faces before lingering especially long on Lee Kiwook.

She looked directly at him and said, "The mysteries of magic have yet to be fully understood by anyone. But one thing is certain: every mage holds immense potential within them. No failure is ever a reason to give up."

The classroom was silent. The young mages were nearly brought to tears by the encouraging warmth of her words. Even Lee Kiwook had to admit—it made a lot of sense.

That's right.

No setback should ever be a reason to give up on becoming a mage.

Even if I died, transmigrated, and had my skills sealed—I'm still not becoming a mage!

Ms. Roaille appeared deeply gratified as she gently began explaining to the young mages the history of the Aetherra and the origins of magic.

At first, Lee Kiwook listened attentively, but as the lesson went on, he started to feel an odd sense of familiarity.

He'd encountered all this content before when he play the game. Back then, he had skipped every bit of it without a second thought. Who would've imagined that one day he'd have to sit in class and make up for all of it word for word.

The history of the Aetherra was quite simple, it's beginning with the Age of the Gods, followed by the Twilight of the Gods, and finally the present, where belief in the God of Light reigned supreme.

"It's said that in ancient times, every person could sense the magical power of all elements. Each living being could choose any profession based on their innate talents. All beings were equal. Light and darkness coexisted," Ms. Roaille explained, her expression full of yearning. "If I'd had the chance, I think I might have chosen to be a merfolk mechanist, haha."

The young mages in the classroom all burst into laughter, clearly finding that combination completely absurd and whimsical.
