"Though they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them."
— Romans 1:32 (NIV)
In today's culture, sin isn't just committed—it's celebrated. It's filmed, dramatized, laughed at, and sold as entertainment. We glorify the very things God calls evil. And often, we do it through our eyes.
The danger lies not just in doing sin, but in watching it, enjoying it, and cheering it on.
🔥 When Entertainment Becomes Approval
The moment we enjoy sin—even when it's fictional—we begin to agree with it in our hearts.
Laughing at crude humor.
Cheering for revenge.
Rooting for characters who lie, fornicate, murder, or curse without remorse.
Even when it's "just a movie" or "just a show," your heart doesn't forget. It absorbs what your eyes approve.
"Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and champions at mixing drinks, who acquit the guilty for a bribe, but deny justice to the innocent." — Isaiah 5:22–23
The more we glorify sin, the more we dull our spiritual senses. What once made us weep now makes us laugh. What once caused us to flee now causes us to binge.
👁️ Reflection: What Are You Applauding?
Ask yourself:
Do I enjoy watching people sin, even if it's fiction?
Do I excuse shows or music that glorify darkness because "the story is good" or "the beats are fire"?
Do I feel closer to God after watching this—or further away?
If you can cheer for sin in entertainment, your spirit may already be compromised.
🙏 How to Resist the Glorification of Sin
Let the Holy Spirit convict you
If something makes you feel spiritually uneasy, don't ignore it—respond.
Don't defend "guilty pleasures"
If it dishonors God, it's not harmless. It's hindering your holiness.
Choose entertainment that honors God
Replace dark shows and songs with ones that inspire righteousness.
Speak up, not just silently abstain
Refuse to laugh at sin. Don't share or promote what poisons.
🧎 Prayer to Reject Sinful Entertainment
"Father, forgive me for the times I've watched or enjoyed sin rather than turning from it. I've allowed entertainment to shape my heart more than Your Word. Cleanse my eyes and desires. Help me to hate what is evil and cling to what is good. May my delight be in righteousness, and may I never applaud what nailed Jesus to the cross. In His holy name, Amen."
