Penelope's POV
My hand was still bleeding when the first arrow flew past my head.
"Get down!" Zayne shouted, pulling me behind his chair as hunters burst through the windows. Glass scattered everywhere, cutting my arms.
This wasn't how I'd thought my wedding would look like.
"How many?" I asked, pressing my bleeding palm against my dress. The blood deal was still burning in my veins.
"Too many," Zayne said, his fangs showing. "But now that we're bound, I can do this."
He stood up and raised his hands. Darkness poured out of him like water, covering the entire room. The hunters started screaming as shadows grabbed their guns and threw them aside.
In seconds, it was over. The hunters were either dead or running.
"That's just the beginning," Zayne said, turning to me. "Are you ready for the ceremony?"
My stomach twisted. "Right now?"
"The blood agreement won't hold unless we finish it. And we need my full power before more hunts come."
