The moment Sarah was killed by Damon, Kevin froze in disbelief. By the time he snapped back to reality and wanted to kill Damon, Stefan had rushed out from the side and tackled him.
Kevin, already consumed by rage, was about to go for broke and expose Damon's identity when a hand clamped over his mouth. Struggling, Kevin turned his head to see it was Stefan's friend, Lexi, restraining him.
Not long after, Damon left with Caroline's mother, taking Sarah's body. Kevin stopped struggling and shot Stefan a look, signaling him to let go. Once Kevin was free, he saw Elena was also nearby. He glanced at her, then without looking at Stefan or Lexi, turned and walked away.
"Kevin—" Elena tried to call him back, but Kevin simply activated the Rabbit Talisman and was gone. Stefan knew his own speed couldn't match Kevin's, and even if he caught up, he wouldn't know what to say.
Kevin, of course, hadn't let go of avenging Sarah. He used the Rabbit Talisman to speed to the small cabin he had purchased earlier. He had originally intended to use the cabin, after Tanner's death, as a workshop to create weapons for killing vampires. However, at that time, he didn't know how to kill vampires, and then they had captured Damon directly, so this place had been put on hold.
Kevin carefully considered the key elements for killing a vampire: sunlight, a wooden stake through the heart (digging it out directly would also work, but Kevin wasn't strong enough for that yet), and beheading. Sunlight was difficult because Damon had his ring, and getting it off him would be hard. That left staking Damon through the heart or cutting off his head.
Kevin went to his toolshed, found several pieces of sufficiently hard wood, and fashioned them with his tools, ensuring the points were sharp enough not to get caught on bone and miss the heart when thrust in. After making several wooden stakes, Kevin fell into deep thought, unsure where Damon would go. He knew Damon might very well be hiding from him too.
"Damn it, whatever! I'll just go camp out at Stefan's house first. If I can catch Damon there, I'll snuff him out," Kevin decided, no longer agonizing/indecisive, and planned to just stake out Stefan's place.
When Kevin arrived at Stefan's house, he found Stefan and Damon already fighting, with Lexi watching from the side. The moment Kevin entered, Lexi spotted him and blocked his way.
"Move," Kevin said to Lexi. Hearing his voice, Stefan and Damon stopped fighting and both looked towards him.
"What, not fighting anymore? Go on, keep fighting. Here, Stefan, borrow this," Kevin said mockingly, tossing one of the wooden stakes in his hand to Stefan.
"I'll say it again, move," Kevin said, turning his head to Lexi, seeing that neither brother was making a move.
"You need to calm down first," Lexi tried to persuade Kevin.
"Calm your grandpa's ass down!" Kevin's fury completely erupted. He activated the Rabbit Talisman and kicked Lexi aside. Although Lexi was much older and stronger than Stefan and Damon, her speed couldn't match Kevin's. (Author's Note: Kevin's Rabbit Talisman speed is set here as a nerfed version without the Dragon Talisman's enhancement, making it roughly comparable to an Original Vampire's speed. Once he possesses the Dragon Talisman, other Talismans will receive an energy boost, leveling them up to be somewhat faster than even Klaus's hybrid speed.)
The moment Kevin kicked Lexi away, he forcefully threw a stake from his sleeve like a dart at Damon, then pulled the last prepared stake from his belt and rushed towards Damon for a finishing blow.
Kevin's actions, though described step-by-step, happened in an instant thanks to the Rabbit Talisman. The stake pierced Damon's body, but Kevin's aim was too poor. It only hit his stomach, not a fatal wound. Stefan couldn't stop the thrown stake but managed to intercept Kevin's follow-up attack, as they were indeed too close.
"Kevin, you need to calm down first!" Stefan said, blocking Kevin from Damon.
"Calm down? Calm my ass! Damon turned Sarah, he killed Tanner, Matt's sister Vicki was also killed by him, and he didn't even spare your own descendant Zach! Now he's killed Sarah again! Do you think he has any humanity left? Don't force me to kill you along with him, Stefan!" Kevin spat out each name, pushing Stefan with each one, and on the last sentence, he shoved with all his might, sending Stefan stumbling back.
'Good chance!' Kevin thought, and immediately lunged to stab Damon, who was still on the ground struggling with the stake in his stomach.
"Ah—this inhuman beast doesn't deserve to die?!" It turned out Lexi had immediately rushed over after being kicked down by Kevin. Seeing Kevin about to kill Damon, she kicked Kevin hard, sending him flying towards the doorway.
"I apologize for this, but now the townspeople will definitely not suspect us. It's better for everyone, after all, your superpowers and Bonnie's witch identity also need to be kept secret. As for why it was Sarah... do you remember you still owe me something?" Damon said, finally pulling the stake out of his stomach.
"Why is the town investigating so strictly? Isn't it because you've been killing people ever since you arrived? As for the necklace, you can forget about ever knowing where it is," Kevin retorted to Damon, spitting out some bloody saliva. Lexi, being a vampire of her age, was indeed quite strong; if not for the Horse Talisman, that kick could have ruptured his internal organs and killed him.
"Stefan, you keep saying Damon is clinging to you, that you want to get rid of him, that you deeply regret all the wrong things Damon has done. And then? What are you doing now? Do you really have to wait until Elena dies in front of you before you're satisfied? As for Lexi, I think in this world, probably only Stefan and Damon wouldn't kill you. This time it was Sarah. If Sarah hadn't been here today, don't you think he would have used that excuse to push you out as a scapegoat?" Kevin questioned both of them.
"Alright, I won't say any more. Since you've made your choice, I won't hold back against either of you from now on," Kevin said, looking at their silent yet unmoving forms, not wanting to waste any more words. He would no longer show mercy to people like this.
With that, Kevin charged at Damon again. Stefan still stepped forward, trying to block Kevin. Kevin, having no patience for him, directly thrust a wooden stake towards Stefan's heart. If Lexi hadn't also rushed over and pushed Stefan, causing the stake to hit his shoulder instead, Stefan would have been dead. At that moment, Damon had sped behind Kevin and plunged a stake right through Kevin's heart from the back. The intense pain forced Kevin to his knees.
"That actually... hurt a bit," Kevin said, just as the three vampires thought he was dead.
"Did you really think my immortality was just like you vampires? I really don't die, you know," Kevin said, standing up and pulling the stake out of his own body.
"Kevin, wait a second!" Damon called out, just as Kevin was about to press his attack.
"What? Planning to leave your last words?" Kevin asked, unhurried. The immortality granted by the Dog Talisman was his greatest reassurance.
"Kevin, I know the three of us definitely can't stop you. But if you try to kill me, Stefan will undoubtedly try to stop you at all costs. I won't say anything else, but I can definitely get away. And if you kill Stefan, you know how terrifying my revenge will be. Caroline... you can't protect her by her side for a lifetime," Damon threatened Kevin again, using Caroline.
"Caroline and I already broke up. You think that threat works on me?" Kevin said, feigning composure.
"Whether you've broken up or not, I'm not sure. But I think this threat is indeed useful. After all, you went to such lengths for your friend Sarah. And this is really my only option, isn't it?" Damon said with a shrug.
"So, Stefan, you think so too?" Kevin asked Stefan.
"Kevin, I don't want to harm Caroline. But you also know... I will let Damon die," Stefan said, opening his mouth just when Kevin thought he would remain silent.
"Fine, fine, fine! You two brothers truly live up to being brothers—one a true scoundrel, the other a hypocrite!" Kevin was so angry he almost laughed. However, with Caroline's safety at stake, Kevin couldn't continue fighting. After all, from his first encounter with Damon, Kevin knew that if both of them tried to escape, he could at best catch one. Now there were three vampires.
"Three days. I'll give you three days at most. Get the hell out of Mystic Falls, or I'll directly reveal your vampire identities to everyone in town. A mutually destructive outcome isn't something only you can achieve. Worst case scenario, I'll take Caroline and leave Mystic Falls. I doubt you'll be able to find her then," Kevin said, then turned to leave.
"Kevin, what about my necklace?" Damon called out urgently as Kevin was about to go.
"SB (Moron)!" Kevin glanced at Stefan, then looked at Damon as if he were an idiot, cursed, and then activated the Rabbit Talisman and sped off.
